This was taken from the TriFive.com website

Here are some photos of my friends 57 El Morocco. It has factory air and power brakes. These cars were not made by gm, but by a wealthy man named Ruben allender. He bought a bunch of stock bel airs and made them look like cadillacs. No parts were from cadillacs. They were custom made to mimic the el dorado.

I'm totally biased, but I think that '41 Buicks had a lot of "custom" built right into them. First off, you had the slanted B-pillars and the vestigial running boards with the really nice, simple stainless trim. The door handles are simple and are nicely integrated into the side trim...you can shave them, but they practically disappear visually anyway. Because of the way the hood is designed, there's no gap between where the hood ends and the door begins...nice and clean (plus the clamshell latch mechanism is a pretty bitchin' little feature). Add to it factory skirts that made their way onto TONS of other customs, and a factory grill that bears close resemblance to the Summers grill (and later the "Afterglow" grill)...there's a lot of cool stuff built into these cars.

Here's a bone stocker. Once you drop the altitude, there ain't a whole lot wrong with this thing right off the line.

    But like I said...I'm biased.

Nobody mention the Nomads. Pretty radical for it's time especially since Chevy already offered a two door station wagon. Pontiac safaris too. Also the 1968-69 Buick Skylark had a clean slick look which made it seem lighter than the Chevies, Olds' and Pontiacs in the mid size range.

How about a 1937 Lincoln zephyr 3 window. With it's long trunk , fender shirts and Buck Roger tail lights I think it's a natural factory custom. Also a 1959 Desoto Firedome Sportsman is an other wild looking car. The dual antennas, sweeping tail fins, Dixie cup tail light stacked 3 high and we can't forget the the swivel out front seats. A car only a mother could love. Merry Christmas
