Google this little French TERROR. Renault R5 Turbo2 The most fun car I ever had. More fun than my 435 HP 427 Corvette. Mid engine full roll cage 13 X 13 wheels a blast to drive European Rally car.
I had a similar I build in HS installed 69 , 428 SCJ , close ratio 4 speed , 4.30 Detroit locker . It was a hand full for a 16-17 year old kid . Also 70 Cobra ( Torino ) 429 SCJ Drag Pack .
My next door neighbor had a black LS6 ‘70 . At the same time I had ‘70 Cobra , 429 SCJ . Those were the days ! I paid $1900.00 for the Cobra , 31K on the clock . Original owner was executive at Ford Motor Co. , Sharonville , Oh . . It was bare stripped down , nothing on the inside . Full house of performance goodies under the hood . I rebuild the engine , the cam part number ended in the letter X , all my research said it was experimental grind , not available to public . I have no idea but it was really t******* at idle . Battery was in right side of the trunk , 5 leafs on right rear 4 on left rear . I sold the car 8 months later , for $4500.00 thinkin man did I clean up on this one .
Here's an Aussie Holden A9X Torana 5.0 Manual V8 and all the "tupperware" [flares ,bulge, spoilers] is Factory They were a factory Homologation Special for Touring Car racing and Bathurst. This is the most famous version of the A9X

To compliment my post #66 Font row of the grid at the now defunct "Baypark Raceway" in 1972 There is a whole lotta Aussie / Kiwi history in this photo. A "Hoey", and 2 x E49's [Falcon GTHO and 2 x E49 Chargers] In the back rows are a full grid of GTR XU1 Toranas. This race was part of the "Benson And Hedges" series for Production Cars The mustard coloured Charger #211 was driven by Leo Leonard who was the winningest Chrysler driver in Australasia Baypark Raceway closed down in 1995 [I grew up hanging around there as a kid] It was prime Real Estate very close to the beach
Sadly, I have neither. The car is lost to history. I may see the girl at our 50th cl*** reunion in September. She was very attractive...50 years ago. I'm sure that most or all of the guys who attend the reunion will remember both!
It's a start! Here's a sad tale from the Portland, OR files. Do you recognize the name Ndamukong Su? He was a Grant High School stand out locally, and NFL Detroit Lion bad boy at the time of this accident, well he piled his car into a curb, light pole, a drinking fountain and a tree, out screwing around one night with some friends down on 3rd and Burnside. The newspaper reported he crashed his 1970 "Chevrolet coupe". Better known to us as a SS 454 LS6. With what appears to be Emmitt's far rolling stock. Though it doesn't look too bad in this photo other than the retractable landing gear... This is a shot from the rear. For those you who are not familiar with the lexicon, Emmitt's are 22" "rims" thus named for Dallas Cowboy Superstar Emmitt Smith who wore number 22. Perhaps he put it out of it's misery. Gives a new meaning to "Factory Terrors"
Close BB, his name is Ndamukong Suh, he was a standout DT for the Huskers before his bad boy NFL days!
Funny, I clipped his name out of the article on line so I wouldn't misspell it and I didn't get the last letter in the clip.
Since the ***le does state off-topic: Before being bit by the "buy American" bug in the early 1970's, I owned a 1968 Datsun Fairlady. Advertised and sold as 150 HP for the insurance companies (heh, heh, heh), weighing less than 2100 pounds with a 5-speed and a 5:13 rear end, it surprised a LOT of traditional muscle cars. 121 CID with two 500 CFM 2-barrels. Saw some high 12's in the early 1970's. Main performance problem was traction. Datsun offered a locker rear, but no fun on the street! Finally gave up on the factory tires and installed a set of Blue Streaks, which helped considerably. These things cleaned up in SCCA racing until the Z hit the streets. Could not be imported into the USA in 1968, mine was purchased in Canada and bootlegged across the border before I bought it. One of a number of cars I wish I had the resources to keep. Jon
