OKAY HOW MANY CARS RAN ? HOW MANY RUNS? QUICKEST? FASTEST ? SLOWEST? SPECTATOR COUNT? BEST FOOD? BEST PICTURE? I was not there .. so with this info and a burning tire nearby all will be good
I think the slowest was a 60's Chevy P/U with a 6 banger. Looked stock, but props to him for taking her down the track. Ran a 22 second pass I think.
There were a shit ton of people, they made 4 or 5 passes each it seems. Kerry ran an 8 something in his FED and bullet proof won the ya hoo cup with a low 10. Lots of cars running 12's lots of good food, lots of good times. that's all the more specific I got for ya Posted using My Dick Tracy watch and the full custom HAMB app
I think in the neighborhood of 170-180 cars ran. I got in 4 runs, I think some got more. I think the fastest was a 165 MPH. Quickest Not positive but I know at least in the 8's The slowest I saw was 22 ish in the 60's MPH (still bet they were having a blast) Yay Hoo Cup winner was a 10.95. and drove from Tulsa area. Spectators= A Shitload The rest I have no idea.
I ran in my old 54 Chevy 6 banger an ultra fast time of 20.0441 with a top speed of 68 mph. Not bad for a stock 59 year old car. Not the slowest car there. Definitely not the fastest but I ran it. Later, Dick
Dick, It was really nice to see you and folks like you making passes in your cars. Way more interesting than computerized , throttle stop dragsters that are no fun at all to watch. You are proof that 20 second passes are cool as hell. Also, props for taking her down the track at all. You make the supercharged, big block, big tire, posers look like a bag of pansies!
I will guarantee you that I had an absolute ball. This was only the second time since 1967 that I had run a car down the drag strip. We had a real flag man that flagged us off. No lights or any of this fancy stuff. The spots were 20 foot increments. I had a good friend that had a 50 Buick 4 door sedan that ran in the stock eliminator against a hemi Cuda. finals. Jim was spotted about half the length of the track. When he went through the traps at about 30 mph, the Cuda went by him at about 150 mph, Jim said it liked to suck the doors off the Buick. Fun days. Thanks for your response. Later, Dick
Paperdog, words cannot describe the Hamb Drags. It's way too much for that. Next year, if you can get away, cruise on down from the Land of 10,000 Lakes to Mokan Dragway and take it all in. You won't regret it.
ok I followed some picture posts and stuff here and on facebook from various HAMB attendees the facts/figures were something I thought some one was actually tracking my mistake .. it looked as though just having a good time was the plan I really hope to attend the next event thanks again guys
1. 200 registered cars. 182 made passes. 2. No idea 3. I believe it was a 7.50 or so 4. Same car as above ran 180 and change, I think? 5. The truck already mentioned 6. No idea. I haven't counted wrist bands yet 7. We need more food vendors. 8. Lots
There was more than enough to make any of us happy that's for sure! I'm already looking forward to next year!
Here is a fact that you can take to the bank. The 'beaner was not there and everyone had a better time because of it. Yep, I think it is 150 miles min (don't hold me to that).
Thanks boss...that helps when reviewing pix from the track. Great Posted using the Full Custom H.A.M.B. App!
Ryan....thanks for the update....wish the "drag events" would do it across the states....it something a guy or gal could shoot for if they 're running a car/truck.... lwf
The hotel parking lot along with the drag strip was a great experience. Really hard to beat for a good time and the weather was freaking awesome!
