Normal driving you will never get the rotors so hot they fade. Now racing , say at a road course is different.

And your roadster will be perfect for this. Unlike my roadster that I was/am going for pure '50 you are going to that flavor. I like a lot of things about this, the use of old parts instead of just writing a check, not being ashamed of your disk brakes because it doesn't completely hide them but gives them a better more traditional look.

  3. Those are not a backing plate in the strictest sense. they are more of a shield, some of the designed to push air against the rotor but their primary purpose is to protect the rotor from collecting debris. At least that's what I have been told.

Actually normal driving on Tims coupe gets his brakes hot enough to slow him down. LOL
His brakes with the new booster setup drag really bad. We are getting is sorted out but it has been a real pain in the ****.

I think they will be great, as you know there are a few high $ parts on my car and a lot more I have built because I can. :) I like the do it myself low $ approach.

And I'm using it too, just going to make a little change ;) :)

Fake brakes, fake valve covers, fake carbs hiding injectors, fake side pipes, fake hood scoops, fake continental kits, fake spot lights, and fake ***s. Only the fake ***s look good, but they taste funny.:D

Take a close look at this pic, what kind of brakes do these look like?

My eyes aren't so good anymore, but dang if those don't look like discs to me. 7D52C5AC-E2F7-4E35-9DC3-D5B1DDCB8AD1.jpeg
I don't know the age of the photo, I found it on the net somewhere (maybe here on the HAMB), but with the long board and the style of the girls hair & clothes it looks like a mid 60's era. In fact I'm wondering if that's not Corona Del Mar beach in Newport Beach CA.

Damn , that right there is cool sheet ! I hate the look of discs on a Hot Rod , there are light years ahead of drums in performance , and light years behind in looks . You did a fine job , this deserves a thank you for sharing . I may just attack this one day my self now . I’ll be looking for a ratty cheap set of backing plates soon !
