Ok, I should know how to do this. I kinda do, that is when I have a key. How in hell can I pull the lock tumbler out of the ignition without a key though? As I said, I know about turning to acc, straightening out a paper clip and doing the hole deal and pulling it out. But what magic do I need to pull off this deal without a key? I went through all of the loose Falcon keys I had, but nothing doing with the girfriends wagon. Ideas? Help?
i am not sure of the correct way..but i have run a 3/8th drill bit about 3/4-1" into the tumbler..then was able to turn to the right position to remove the tumbler with a paperclip and save the switch and replace the tumblers
After you get the key cylinder out, at least for a 64 and 64 Falcon, the outer ***embily is held in with the bezel (reads acc, off,on start). They make a bezel removal tool to pull out the entire piece. couple sites that talks about it. https://macsautoparts.com/falcon-co...c6oz-11584-tool/camid/FAL/cp/JS0R3CHL1097128/ http://www.fordmuscleforums.com/falcon-pages/472940-how-do-i-get-my-ignition-switch-out.html
If the Falcon has the original doors, you can remove a door lock and have a key made which will match the lost ignition key. With the use of the door lock, a locksmith charged me $15 to cut a new key for my '63 Ranchero project.
Yep, well, so yesterday I went out in the heat and drilled the lock cylinder out. I had picked up a tumbler and key set from So-Cal yesterday morning so I thought I was set. I drilled, stopped, looked to see if I had gone deep enough, then repeated. Turns out, well, ya, I had gone deep enough... Too deep enough! When the old tumbler finally called it quits and came out, I had drilled into the spaded end of the switch! Dhoooo!!! Face slap! So tomorrow down to AZ Jobbers and get a switch, throw it in and be done. The one thing that is bothering me though is that the bezel doesn't look to be the same as the tumbler I purchased for this application. In other words, after I pulled the bezel, this tumbler won't fit back though it. Looks like this car has had some playing around done at some point or another before...
