Oh yeah, I can see the pics now. I LOVE that Comet front bumper treatment. Very very sweet car...:) I hope that I can build the '61 Longroof I'm hopefully getting half as nice.

  4. Tail light treatment... start with a set of round body Falcon lens of your choice and the 59 caddy's. Measure the caddy lens at the base (2 7/8" – 3"?), cut that size hole in the Falcon lens using a big *** hole cutter from the hardware store. Be steady and keep it clean and tight, no wiggle room. When you are done, sand up the edges and glue them together. I used clear silicone, but I believe I should have used a model type glue that would have actually melted the two together. With that said, mine came out very clean and sealed it perfect. Good luck.

Just joined HAMB yesterday and this is one of the first posts I was able to read. Awesome job. I too am an owner of a 63.5 Falcon and have it owned it for almost 9 years. Its gone through many stages and i really like some of your details. I always wondered what a trimless version would be and one with the radiused doors and custom treatments. The interior option you state is going to pop with that nice green color. I'll post mine in the next week or so. Mines still very original, which I love.

    great post!!

  6. Welcome to the HAMB, Jon. Be sure to go to "Intros" and do yourself a write up. They'll beat ya up here if ya don't.

I used to roll around SJ in teh early 90s in a 63 Ranchero I called KowPunk.

again LaGrasta, very nice job you are doing. I live just over the Ortega Hwy from you. My Futura is shown on the "Family Heirloom" thread...stock mostly but will drive anywhere, anytime I need it to.

    Don W.

thanks for some ideas...maybe someday I will do a mild custom to mine.

  8. Yeah, that's what you want to do first. I spent the first year and a half getting the drive line and suspension flushed out. It ran great when I bought it, but I upgraded to power disc brakes, a bigger rear end and better gearing for the freeway. I did a bunch of other stuff too like a/c, all hard lines under the hood, electric fan and fuel pump and electronic ignition.

Since you're close, I expect to see you around. Be sure to say hey.

    La Grasta......

the car looks real good. the color combo works well.

honestly at first the body mods that you suggested for me to do. i felt that they where not going to flow with the car, but after a couple of months of me doing body work. i can see everything flows really well with it. i'm glad i could take your vision and bring it to life.

this is what happens when people have a plan and stick to it.

    looks good. :)

  10. Thanks Danté. I had a pretty clear vision of what I wanted, what I could afford and what was practical for a daily driver.
I really need to kick it up a gear now and flush out some more of my plans for it.

    love it!

    What are your grill plans?

  14. Hey Fonzi, it's been awhile. I don't hit the Donut Derelicts as often as I like. Are you still dropping in there Saturday mornings? That's my favorite local show. Your car is looking terrific these days.

The grille plans are in limbo. I wanted to do a 6-8 inch chrome handle arrangement on flat black screen, but can't find the damn handles any where. I then started thinking I'll do a tube grille and more than likely will, even if it's just temporary. A split chrome arrangement is something I'm interested in maybe using Opel GT rear bumpers. They have lights already installed like 49 Ford front grilles. Like I said, it's still in limbo.

    Hey man,
I don't make it to Derelicts often anymore. I can't bring myself to get up that early without my car.....It just isn't fun without the early morning rumble of my twice pipes!

I think a tube grill would look cool. I had Glory Grilles build one for my 62 galaxie and i was really happy with it!

    Neat car !

Funny how you choose that bumper. The Aussie made Falcon coupes used the same one in 1965 on an updated version of the 63 1/2 American coupe body. It looks like they may have also used the front guards and hood from the '63 Comet as well.

beautiful little falcon you got there. I have seen quite a few pics of it and always thought she was done right....good stance....good colour....good body mods. If you are not sure what to do with the grille here is my $0.02... a 63 galaxie grill would look pretty damn sweet in there (i have always been keen on the 63 galaxie grill) either with single or dual headlights, but that is just a thought, im sure whatever you do will look sweet because you have hit the nail on the head with the rest of the car. again shes a beaut!!!

That thing is killer, my dad had one when I was a kid. I love the green color, very kool ....... :D

  20. If you notice, the Merc bumper is only used with the Comet style front fenders. With the Falcon fenders, it won't wrap around. I had to stretch and cut to make it fit. I'm pleased with it though. It's still needs rechromed, but it looks like it always belonged there.

Thanks again everyone for you comments. For a car that isn't even done, it sure is inspiring to have so many of you pleased with the results. Eventually, I'll get some worthwhile images of the engine, interior and the grille.

  21. Very nice job...not many Falcon's look that nice, interesting color...I mean that in a good way!

You've definitely raised the bar into the stratosphere for anyone building a roundbody. Congratulations on an outstanding ride.

Sick caps on the ill green Falcon.

  25. thanks. the caps are a combo of different items.

    Flippers are from http://www.custombuiltsteelwheels.com/html/new_products.html
They are attached to center caps with a hole and a nut on the inside with a 14" smooth trim ring. All mounted on sandblasted, 14" Granada steelies painted flat black BBQ (rattle can).

LaGrasta - Haven't seen you on tffn lately. I also want to see some more pics of this beast. I took a couple at last year's GNRS, but that's it. More pics, por favor.
