Features Falcons done right?

i just got the driveshaft back because i did a trianglated 4 link and shortened the a 8in , im runnin 14x7 1/2 on the rear and 14 x 6 on the front it should be running maybe by july , i work on it in the spare time my buddys shop has so few and far between

the ways you guys have bagged your falcons so i can start on the front now that i have a few ideas..

Wow! your 62 makes my 63 look lifted. If thats the stock suspension, did you have to notch the frame above the bottom control arm? And do your ball joints bind pretty bad when it's aired out? I really like the astros on there, makes me want to do a 5 lug swap.

Just had to add a couple more Falcons to the thread...

 

I love Aussie Falcons. They remind me of old advertising art when they would create a “typical” American car - they look mostly like a U.S. Falcon, but with just enough differences to make you go “What is that??”

Thanks for that XMBird. By comparison they are really a very odd styling when you compare to what else we got in this country. I don't think we got any other factory delivered 'woody's' in this era. I think I saw that car at a classic Falcon show in Canberra a few years ago. I know there was another getting around in far less good condition that sold on EvilBay earlier this year... and it was made out to be something very exceptional

 

I have to add Australia to my list of places to visit for cars.
I want to go all over Mexico searching out old VW's.
I want to go all over Cuba searching out old US cars.
And now I want to go all over Australia searching out old Falcons.

65 XP falcon, 170 3onthetree, XF disk brake brakes, GMH springs, skanky top to bottom...

 

..no they came with the partial wood bed as in the 1960 model (light green), however when I did the XM Custom (Ranchero) that's a '64 I put a full wood bed in it with stainless bed spacers...

 

My lil 64 aint bad, especially since its a three year old "krylon special" paint job and ive maybe 600 into her total. Of course, shes very unfinished, (nerf bars to come some year) but i cant tear down my daily driver.

 

xm...gorgeous work man! too all who did it! beautiful...

 

To Mr. "XM BIRD" in Australia-
In your last post, weith the light green XK UTE...do you have a source for that rubber floor covering you could tell me? Are they reproducing those there in Australia, or did you find an NOS one...that one in your car looks, "new"!

Clean little 1961 Futura project we recently sold. People from other countries who were coming to Viva Las vegas wanted to buy it and arrange shipping. Really did not realize the falcons had so much of a following!
ANyone have any pictures of FALCON SQUIRES?

 

...don't understand why you couldn't PM me but something must have F****d up in the spirit world.. the mat was a NOS that I picked up back about 10 years ago and stored, the rubber is starting to perish a little under the seat but is 100% everywhere else sorry I couldn't help you but they are out there...cheers

 

Vey nice I'm going for a similar look with the wheels on my 64 2-door and it's white as well.

 

thanks man , actully it took 2 days work and 2 cut up stock arms before we figured out how to get it right , we built upper and lower tube control arms i have no binding up or down, car has full turn radius 1 inch from ground , now steering on the other hand we are still working out the kinks there we have moved the steering box up and all the linkage and now we are notching the frame for the tie rods also i am going to heim joints for the ends to cut down on the binding should be the sickness when its done maybe i will actully drive it again this year

 

Hey Red Racer, what do you have for front suspention? What springs? Stock upper arms? Need to get mine up in the air. thanks. speedracer

 

Im in the process of re-installing my upper control arms as well.The only problem is I forgot how many shims should be used on each side.I'm trying to not draw the upper to far in into the shock tower.I have already did it once on one side and broke the fitting to grease the control arm shaft kit.Thinking about maybe cutting a small hole on both sides of the shock tower to allow for clearance of the grease fitting.What do you guys think? Will it weaken it ?

Not enough to matter, bro...and, I used 3/4" of shims on my uppers, on the front and back bolts, to get the wheel out where it needs to be, and it looks and drives great. I had cut 1-1/2 coils on my springs, so I needed to jack that wheel out about that far to get it to work. I used an outside-the-coil spring compressor to take the pressure off the a-arm, loosened the bolts from the inside, jacked the back of the a-arm out with a small pry-bar, taped my shims together in a stack, and slipped them in over the bolts. Tighten the nuts, repeat for the other side, and your done.

Also, don't forget to re-set your toe-in when you get those shims in.
