Hey Sled I'm shooting for Saturday morning (unless someone has an empty bunk for Friday night?!?!?)....Got a football game that evening back toward home, gotta boogie around 2:00pm.
Count my ass in. I am taking the misses for her birthday so if she looks pissed, you can blame me for it!
Now that I'm retired, I'll hit the Autofair on Friday and Shades on Saturday! It's great to be me! hahaha
Mr. James....you lucky ....... If I lived within an hour of the track, I'd be there every free moment I had! Don't forget that special birthday dinner for 2.....2 Speedway Burgers and a cold (insert favorite beverage here)!
The fall meet is NEVER as large as the spring meet. The event being on the same weekend as Shades of the Past this year ( 2008 ) ... has to hurt the swap meet attendance some. I have been told that attendance and participation at most events is down roughly 10 to 15 per cent ... due to increased fuel costs and the related price increases ... The red field is non-existant in the fall and I understand that the green field is also. The BLUE field ... is the oldest and was first ... so it is still going strong but a lot of the vendors have grown older and just use their swap meet places to park and socialize. Add in the summer heat ... and it all adds up to a smaller event than the spring event. I usually go only every other fall meet unless I am really hunting something ... BUT ... I have 6 spots in the spring and NEVER miss it.
Hahaha!!! I'll try to remember to surprise her with some tasty meat treats and a tall glass of pop or as you fine southern fellas call it "soda". I am going to be looking for those 18 x 3 5/8" Kelsey Hayes wheels that were an option in '38. Perhaps a Pines Winterfront Grille and while we are at it, throw some "real" Divcos while we are at it. Stranger things have happened right?...although not to me.
