This little unexpected taste of Christmas isn't expected to stay but ... well ... Damn !!
Still have the lawn tractor out running around picking up leaves, wasn't planning to pull out the snow blower until after Fall Out...

  6. I'm putting the electric blanket back in the trailer. They work great.

I'm working away trying to get ready! My intake was apparently originally set up for a boat, because the carbs were backwards. THe fuel is sloshing away from the main jets when the car launches, creating a bog. So I'm re-drilling the pattern and reworking the linkage and fuel lines to turn them around.

    Edited:
This advice applies to Holley 4 barrels.
Have you tried some jet extensions? Small pipes of tubing that slide over the outside of the jets facing the rear.

They work like straws so the jets can feed from the back of the bowl that is full of fuel instead of the front of the bowl that is full of air.

Used them on my cobrajet on the rear jets that had been starving for fuel on hard launches worked great and CHEAP. Doesn't matter which end you use them on like in your case just use them on the rear facing jets.

Much easier and cheaper than re-drilling the manifold.

While you are at the speed shop buying the jet extensions get two "Vent Whistles" also. If you are launching hard enough to send all the fuel to the back of the bowls there is a very good chance that the fuel in the front bowls is going into the vent holes, that should be exposed to the air at the top of the bowls. Fuel then is forced up the vents and splashes OUT THE VENT DOWN INTO THE VENTURIES and ends up collecting on top of the throttle plates.

All they are is plastic extensions that go in the vent hole and extends it to the FRONT of the bowl preventing fuel from being forced out the vents on hard acceleration.

When installing either extensions and or whistles check for full float movement or interference with the float.

Thanks Loudbang, that's great advice. Except these are Holley 94 two barrels so they only have one pair of jets. Turning them around should solve the problem, and I'm already halfway through the job. I did consider trying jet extensions, but I also have adjustable main main and Jet extensions won't work with those.

    Typical pre-trip crap

Electric jack on the trailer dies, then seizes and the breaks when hand cranking. Going to hook it up using a floor jack and leave it hooked on the truck until we get back... I'll deal with it then

Did a once through and brake check on the truck... left rear brake caliper is seized and the pads crumbled into pieces when we looked at it sideways. Replaced both calipers and pads... fronts are good... and we're good to go

Back went out... (No !! Stop !! Not Davey.... ) before the brakes and trailer... I've been doing all this heavy lifting crap with my back out. Pretty typical though... doing a Meltdown / Fall Out trip - time for the back to go out.

Still coming... with a small Canadian army of 4 cars and 5 couples
Hope the weather predictions keep getting better

    See y'all Thursday !!

I talked to a guy that works at rockfalls, and he said that they wont race under 47 degrees. Looks like a small window to race, but there is still a window. Practicing some starts yesterday, and there WERE going good, then I felt something funny when I was turning around. A couple of hours later and every bolt checked I couldn't find anything. Took it out and tried again, same thing, back to the shop and I found the rubber let go on the tranny mount. I am working on finding one so I can race. I have to work then get mount modify it put it in and I will be racing hopefully.

I'm having some issues completing my carburetor work. It's taking longer than I I anticipated. I'll probably miss the racing today, but hopefully get there tonight and be ready to race tomorrow.

I'm sure someone will post photos at some point, but I will send out an early THANK YOU to the Meltdown crew and staff at the track. I made 3* passes and had a blast. During the 3rd run, all the teeth on my 3rd gear decided they would rather hang out at the bottom of my tranny, instead of where they actually belong. I would have enjoyed more, but...shit happens. It's all good, I like working on cars.;)

*3rd run was interrupted by a obvious and immediate failure of 3rd gear. Thankfully, no fluids were spilled and I was able to limp it on the trailer in 2nd gear.

Chucky, sorry you broke . Did you get a chance to line up against James lol? Two classic Chevy post line up together would have been great. Larry

Awesome pics! I'm so bummed that I didn't make it, I missed a great event. I was working on the car all day thursedsay, hoping to be ready to race friday, but that project spilled over into friday. I still had hope for some saturday racing. Then my crippled old back locked up and I was out of commission for the rest of the weekend.

We shot over 300 pictures and have no idea how many videos, plus we shot a bunch of 35mm black and white pictures.
I will just post the pictures here, I have to resize the pictures, so it could take a little time.
    Stay tuned. ;)

    Bummer!,
I broke my tranny before I left this year. Blew the input on the Super T10. Everything is inside the case, and now have the winter to deal with it!

  30. there was a lot of breakage this year. more than previous years. several guys lost engines and trans missions. there was also one rear end that I know of. everyone was going for it all weekend. the weather was colder than was forecast so the track was a little slick for the faster cars. the bbq was excellent like always. there were lots of new cars racing this year.
