Any pics of how you mounted your fan when using an offset generator? cant figure out how the fan goes onto the front of the intake without the generator there. thanks mike
I ***ume you are using one of the '42-53 fans on a separate slider. Two ways and an odd wrinkle: 1. Cut mount area off of a spare generator ('42-8) or generator mount ('49-53). Put it together as stock. See wrinkle below... 2. Buy aluminum casting that bolts to gen mount stud on manifold and holds the shaft from stock fan. This replaces both stock fan mount and stock gen flange. It is I think still available from Offy or Edelbrock--search Speedway cat. It is not well described in cats because no one can figure out what it is... 2 1/2. Cut a spare gen down to a short bit of case and the bearing plates--idler pulley tp drive pumps better, place for '42 fan, allows early gen mount fan! A-V8 did a story on process once. Odd wrinkle: Edelbrock and I think Offy, probably others, have a generator mount on manifolds that looks stock but won't actually take the stock gen flange for #1 above! This is because they wanted you to buy the adapter piece listed in #2, made a tad narrower than the generator flange....obviously, you can grind to suit, but that's WTH that slot doesn't fit your parts!
