Brought this back from the farm, any ideas what it is? Is that a PTO drive off the side?

I've got another similar, without the appendage on the right side...

    Thanks!

That's probably a '32 large truck transmission. About the only things usable for a car are the clutch crosshaft and forks, and the L head bolts that point rearward out the back of the ****** mount.

Thanks! Do you think the driveshaft yoke is adaptable, or would I be 'just as ahead' building one or finding a more suitable one?

From the parts I've found and what I've learnt here, I'm thinking it was maybe a '35-'36 Ford "one ton", Model 61? (the link is at home)

I would think that yoke is too big to fit inside the standard car torque tube bell.

I thought that the big trucks used a different kind of outer ring on the rear mount starting in '34, but this wouldn't be the first time I was wrong.

You might better find one that will SHIFT. Which that ****** will not. These things are good boat anchors. The only thing good for anything is the hogshead which can be made into an adapter for a later ****** such as a T-5. Of course, if youv'e got a 1 ton truck maybe you'll want to keep it for a spare.

Yeah I brought it home more as a curiosity than an actual 'auto part'...but you never know, the bearings in the front end from the '37-ish I dug out of the dirt were still greased and the spindles are nice and shiny.

Thanks for the link...there's a load of info on it.
