Well, here is the original thread that I posted mentioning my wife's Grandfather. It's really sad, but happy that his family is keeping his stuff and continueing his legacy of rebuilding!! His son and grandson (wife's uncle and cousin) are good guys, and are trying to preserve as much of this stuff as they can, and make project out of everything down there.

    here's the thread
    http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=251347

We have been spending many weekends down there. We went down on Saturday and brought back ....

4 flat head motors (there are about 5 or 6 more)
3 transmissions (tons more, don't even know how many)
shifters, about 10 sets of heads (all different flat head castings), several flat head intakes (some were aluminum)

I want to start looking into finding out about these motors... the rod that I build out of one of these projects is going to run a flat head for sure.

here are the ones we brought back...

this one's heads say 78-6050 HT, appears to be rebuilt, spins freely

    this one is 59A-B
    [IMG]

this one still has the trans and everything there
    [IMG]

    this one is and 'A'

stuff, blue trans is the matching rebuilt one that goes with that engine

Here is a teaser pic of the last truck he was working on before he p***ed away in Sept 2007... he was a hellava guy, and lived a great life, and we are trying to do this one right by him!!

It has ran, and the engine is a 78-6050 HT. Drivetrain, running gear is all done, and just needs to be wired/***embled/troubleshot down and driven!! I have a chance to buy this from the family, and after sitting in it and looking over all the parts, I may do it. If not, there are other projects I may do.

Keep in mind, this stuff is NOT FOR SALE.... it's all getting something done with it, nothing is being wasted!!

thanks for looking, just thought I'd give an update!!

So now I'm going to check out some flat head TECH!!!!!

Good to see that your trying to keep some of his projects in the family. I would be all over that pickup, it looks like it could be a 100% resto or a neat flathead powered hot rod.

We certainly have a lot on our plate right now. The family and I are talking about what we are going to work on first. Consensus seems to be organization. We don't know what he had and what stages of resto everything was in...

So I am reading flat head tech and learning (long road, there) and trying to get what knowledge I can before diving in and screwing things up. Then again, I hear screwing things up is the best way to learn!!

My Wife spent a lot of time with her grandparents when she was little, and her Grandfather has had countless cars and trucks over the years. I think she really wants to buy this black truck and help rebuild it with the family. I think it's a great idea. It will be a family heirloom that we can keep her Grandfather's spirit alive every time we drive it!!

here are some more pics... EVERY piece to put this truck together are here, painted, and in bins and boxes to get it done right. it's really a beautifil thing in person... sorry about being long-winded, and typing a lot, but I'm really p***ionate about family heirlooms and how they should be treated with care, and I just wanted to share on the HAMB!!

    enough talk, more eye candy

    Looks like a GREAT project!!!

I have a question Alex. Is the splash shield laying the floor the one that goes with this truck?? Just curious. Looks just like the one for my '35 Ford p***enger car grille.

Scooter, the truth is, I'm clueless!! I just think that they are trying to figure out what goes to what. They know more than me about this era, so I am learning!!

I have been reading about flat heads all day!!

when were there on saturday, I have NEVER seen so many wasps in one place, they were not happy we were there, we dodged them all day!!

here is a little token that they let me take off the trucks from outside, I love license plates, and these are a wonderful addition to my collection!
