morelands 40 was and still is bad ass. he owned a ton of cool stuff back in the 80's and early 90's...seems like he owned ohio georges 60's mustang gasser as well. whatever became of fat jacks delivery....? bought a shirt off of him back in 89 at super chevy indy , think he had it there then in primer .
I love hotrods but I used to drive that car around Pomona ~1983 (I was a lacky at Mike Brown's rod shop in Pomona- wonder what happend to him) it was a beautyful original- Jerry insisted on cutting it up instead of starting from a rough car or at least a modified car- what a shame.
About ten years too late. Steve Lisks Challenger, Gary Kollovski's '55, bunch of other cars in the mid-seventies. The earliest one I remember was a brand-new, tubbed, 4 link '73 Nova with a Booth/Arons dual dominator BB from detroit area.
I was watching the video and sent my self on an hour long youtube vintage drag racing video marathon . I guess thats what happens. awesome stuff
I ran across this old thread while surfing around the interwebs. Here's the 40 today. My Dad and I watched it run at Fremont many times in the 80's and recently partnered up and bought it. With the help from Moreland, Bauder and Vogele we are finishing up some final touches to bring it back to its original configuration. It should be back in action soon.
Wow! My all time favorite . I've got a print of it by Kenny Youngblood hanging in my office for years! If you ever need to give some one a ride let me know
You got it! We hope to have it up and running in the next couple of months. There's a longer story to our relationship to the car, how we came into the opportunity to buy it (thank you H.A.M.B), and most interestingly the camaraderie with Moreland, Bauder & Vogele to bring it back to life... It's been a bit of a homecoming of sorts and has brought a group of us old friends back together. The best part has been listening to all the stories of how the car came to be and the 30 year road it's traveled to finally end up in our shop. H.A.M.B was the reason I found the car! Left to right: me, Bauder, my Dad (Gary Lorenzini), & Tom Vogele:
I was there too when the 40 and Fat Jack's 46 raced. Those were the days. Memories I will always remember. Glad the 40 survived, and a damn shame the 46 didn't. Nobody today really knows how nice both of those cars were. Both of them were super nice, but man that black 40 was really nice!
We loved the Fremont Street Rod drags. Raced both our 40 Chev and Austin roadster both with GMC 6's in them. An early post asked about the white coupe with the inline engine. That was Don Kincaids Inline Fever with a Horning 12 port. The Inline Internationals held their club drags on Saturdays and my son won the first Top Elimator against Kincaids coupe. We were running a stock head 311" GMC and 2 speed trans and 4.11's in the quick change in the Bantam roadster. Patrick ran a 12.17 @ 117 for the win... Man I miss those days.
