'56 Chevy, B/MP, 11.04 @ 124 in 1973. Full second plus from the record. Wish I had the money and time then to figure out the traction. The car launched like a leap frog and damned near would clear all 4 tires. I think I still suffer from whiplash. A buddy called me the "Hoppin Gator".

My old 10.5 camaro went 8.40 @ 170 @ 3300 lbs 1/4 mile, but I think my latest car will go faster, it has been a 5.40 @ 3500 lbs 1/8 mile thus far and its a 69 camaro, drag radial, stock suspension car! I put the same engine out of my old car in my newer car it made 1100 hp naturally aspirated and i've got two NOS pro race foggers on it with Olds Big Chief cylinder heads now! P.S. Great thread!

89 firebird, 350sbc 670 hp natural, pull tires off ground and ran 10.1, had a /3 regal 350sbc lift 1 tire and ran like hell

alwys had a bet with both cars $100.00 bill on dash, if you can grab it when i launch the car you can have it, never had to give that bill away, except to wife when i sold both cars

might have to build a nasty motor for my 29

I was talking to him a little while ago about it and I have the slip in my hand. It ran a 9.32 with a new Holley, drag slicks, and with a set of 15" Keystone classics. If I had a camera i would post a pic of the slip.

Well MY daddy ran a '75 Caprice classic wagon and won Pro Stock at Indy in '76. All stock except for yellow spark plug wires. We went 8.90 and beat a '75 Ranchero that only did 9's.

'Course NHRA banned us after that.

I'd post the timeslip but Eddie Hill's dog ate it.

Yeah, no offense here, but...not possible.
You should see just how much truck I've removed, and how much $$$ I've spent/parts I've bought just to screw together a 460 powered F-100 to run 11's.
In all likelyhood, it is a lot lighter now, than a stock'75 Ranchero, and I have a whole lot more motor than a stock smog-era BBF with a carb swap.
Its expected to run mid-11's, and thats after a LOT of tuning...The old man's tellin' ya' fish stories...:D
Or I got the wrong carbs.

No need for a time slip on this one...can't happen.
    maybe in the 1/8th
That would be about around the mid-14's...
still sounds fast to me for the claimed combo, honestly.

look at the mph on the slip...

Fastest car, ok it's a truck but whatever, is my '94 Chevy 1500 2wd. My dad and I stuffed in a '67 425 Olds, TH400 tranny, and a 9inch posie. The engines jam packed with a half of the Mondello catalog. Roller rockers, new cam, gear drive, rods, new set of valves, capped off with a set of Mondello valve covers, Edelbrock Performer intake, 675cfm Demon 4brl. Tranny is set up to the Joe Mondello reccomended Semi Bonzi setting. Haven't had her on the track but I guessing it's a 5 second truck in Virginia time. 12 second in the cornfields where I come from though.

The fastest thing I've been in is my friend Rusty's '05 Dodge 2500. 5.9l Cummins, o-ringed head, new cam, compound turbos, stacked programmers, massive intercooler, banks intake, 5 inch exhaust. The list goes on. The tranny is filled with billet pieces from I think ATS so it can stand up to the 1300hp. It's got ladder bars that run from the rear axle to the back of the front doors. Not sure track speed but I'd say close to a 10 or 11 second truck. I know she'll get to 120 right away, after that it's up in the air. The speedo doesn't go any farther.

  14. Ironically the fastest car I owned was a VW... before you chuckle it was one bad ass VW. 2110cc with dual webbers, 4.11 posi, hurst 4 speed shift kit and would run the 1/4 mile in mid 13 seconds. Was a great time in high school for sure eating small block chevys for lunch stop light to stop light. :D

  15. Ahh shit!!! I forgot about that 1st day April thing. That explains the wife thing at 5-o-clock this morning>>>>.

  16. 1963 A/F Dragster, 209, 7;86,,,,I think, but a very long long long time ago. Aslo, the fastest and scariest car was the 1961 AA/F Coupe. 190's in low 8's and all over the track.

Nothing real fast by todays standards. Had an Anglia that ran low 11's in the 70's, a V-8 Vega street car that ran low 13's in the 70's and a street driven 34 International pickup that ran 7.25 in the 1/8th. I have projects that'll be faster if I ever finish them, but if I don't finish them I don't have to prove how fast they are. (G)
Alienboyfinney, does the time slip for the Ranchero have a MPH on it? My Anglia ran 120 at low 11's, a 9.34 should be around 145 MPH.

had a 69 GTO Judge in 1978. 3.90 posi with a 4 speed. I'd like to think I could have got into the 13's with it....

also had a 84 Ninja 900. they ran 10.50's @ 130 in the magazines, no fucking way I was even going to try to go that fast.

had a 2.0 with headers and a weber carb and a 5 speed in my 73 Datsun truck. ran 17.70 @ 77 MPH at Fremont Drag Strip. the only thing I ever had at the track.

I'm gonna go with the fastest street car? I once had a 76 Trans Am (the last good one with the round headlights) that was custom built by a drug dealer..it had an awesome 454 built by R.Thomas among other things..the guy wanted to hear of a deal in Austin or Houston, get on the highway with his radar and be there in minutes..it would shift from first to second at about 65 mph..never did see the top end....
