Fastest HAMB *KUSTOM* ?

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by extremist, Jun 17, 2006.

  1. The planned motor for the 49' Fleetline which is getting channelled pretty good onto an S10 frame is about 600hp through a 4 spd.

But for now I am simply staying with the 4.3L to get it running.

Well it aint the fastest, but its pretty darn fast.

383 with World Performance heads - big valves, them fancy hypeuretic somethineruther pistons, Ford 9" with oversize axles, limited slip, Aluminum driveline and an overdrive tranny.

So fun to come upon a caravan of rodders going up the Interstate with them doing the usual 75ish and come up on them already Xmph faster and then floor it at about 85ish - it shifts down and excellerates HARD and keeps going, and going and its still pulling really hard - until that little voice comes in my head and says "hey dummy...remember...YOU are the one who built this car from scratch...you welded it, you bolted it together...and YOU don't know dick - do you really think this is wise?"

Then I reply to my voice "Oh, shit, your right, thanks for reminding me" and my foot comes off the gas.

My speedo isn't right, so I have no idea, but it's really cookin

Last year - on the way to Billetproof, I had a long time friend of mine in the car for the first time he'd been in it on the open highway. This is a guy who prides himself on being a big risk-taking adrenaline whore and so he says, "let's see what she'll do!"

So I perfomed the above proceedure for him and I remember looking over at some point and he had a pretty nervous look on his face and I thought, well shit, if HE's scared, maybe I ought to re-think this!

  3. 1958 Bonneville, 4000 lbs, 389 tri-power, bw T-10, with bias ply tires it will leave rubber in all 4 gears. Ran low 15s 95mph before I knew how to adjust the carbs and get the secondaries all the way open.

Haha... this reminds me of coming back from the Roundup this year. It was me who was going "the usual 75ish", and I was blowing the doors off every "hot rod" I saw! Was I missing a parade?

  7. oh wait.
    last summer
    350 Chevy Vs 351Ford
    Of course, the Ford won...
THIS summer. Rematch. Same cars. 8.8 w/ traction-lock on the Ford (broke the original...)
