Fastest I ran was 135 in my 73 olds cutlass. And the white knuckle ride goes back to my over the road driving days when I took a 1996 Peterebuilt truck loaded with brick (79,000+ gross weight) up to 118MPH for about 20 min. across I 80 coming home from DeMoines IA. The truck had a N14, 500HP, 1750 ft/lb tourqe and a 15 speed overdrive tranny and 3:55 gears. What a ride? Everyone was getting out of my way and i was mooooooving.
A boing(sic) 747 I was going to post that I had been @ mach 7 in an SR7 blackbird, i figured that no one could dispute it seeing as how it was an airplane that never exhisted until after it was mothballed and how could anyone prove if someone had been one of those pilots or not. but the boeing thing that's just wrong bro that's just too believable.
I did about 120 in my '63 SS, valves started floating--all it had and no more. I thought that was fast until I did about 167 on a GSX750 Suzuki, had 180 on the speedo, woulda done that and more easily. I started thinking about what a sparrow would do to me, so I backed out.
*142mph at Lowes doing a Petty Driving Experience *115mph in my drag dune buggy *about 65 in my microstock racing kart
76 Torino 125, Screaming Eagle Road Glide 120 still pulling, the fairing began to make the front end feel too light to be predictable
Ya know I've given this some serious thought and if I recall my record was 3 strokes when I was in the phillipines.
well lets see, ive done 185 on a honda 929 RR. 175 in a drag 5.0 and recently 150 in an acrua cl type s, that 150 was sustained for 27 minutes, it hit the rev limiter at 151 so i set the cruise at 150 make for a short drive
MMMMMM---Well way back in '74 in a '68 T-bird , 429 spedo was a round one with 0 at about 8 o'clock and 120 at 4 o'clock , needle was hanging straight down , still pulling and was running out of road --Now quick is another thing --3.90 seconde in a mud truck from a standing start in 14 inches of mud going 250 ft ---now that's a rush and I'm not one of the really fast guys --but still I love it and smile at my ride ---still building for more though!!!
The fastest I can prove that I've been is 136 mph, figured out with the mph formula, assuming that my tachometer reading was accurate.
I got my '98 Formula LS1/M6 up to 140 once. It had plenty left, but I was coming up on a hill, and didn't want to blow over the top of it at that speed. Also hit 130 in my 88 Trans Am GTA 350 a few years earlier. Scariest was probably 100+ in my lifted '73 K10 on 35" mud tires. Don't know exaclty how fast I was going, but it sure was loud!
130-140 quite often in my '89 formula 350. 175 in a late model Corvette. In the rain. Not my car, not very smart, either.
I had a sheriff's deputy tell me he was running 115 and couldnt keep my taillights in sight one night. Guess thats the fastest I was ever caught going. Another time I buried the 160mph speedo in my father-in-laws 96 Impala SS company car on the PA turnpike with a KY drivers license. Would have been bad to be caught that night. ...both times a bad case of stupid
Nothing over the speed limit... thats illegal... 170~ or somewhere around there on my old 954RR honda, wearing t shirt shorts and flipflops.. no helmet talk about doing stupid things -Jason
16 years ago, my wife was in Dallas, I was in Austin when I got the call she was going into labor. I'm not sure of the top speed, but at points between Hillsboro and Dallas, I saw just under 150mph in my Camden supercharged BMW M5.
135 in 1995, in my 1993 Dodge Stealth ES! She had a lot left in her, but I was coming up on a hill and I couldn't see what was over on the other side!
In my 84 GMC that is lowered and has gaint swaybars, I've wrapped the needle back around to 10 on the speedo. It stops at 85. I lifted cause the truck kept puling hard. To fast in an old boxy truck on public roads. Maybe when I get to Maxton I'll see how fast it really is.
When I was 16 we were all the way to the "D" on PRND21. The speedo in my 77 grand prix went to 120 and D was way at the bottom of the gauge. Every bump felt like a lanch pad. Power poles looked like street strips at 60. Oh yeah my tires were pretty much bald too. I never thought about that then. Reminds me of the old days with no traffic. Now you can only dream of that shit around here. Cops Galore.
160 mph in a BMW M5 on the way to vegas , I thought I was going to need diapers . And when I said maybe we should slow it down my buddy said listen, At 80 or 100 we will get really f%cked up . At 160 you wont feel a thing , I've told this story maybe 100 times to various people . Buzz Bomb
Most recently 145 in my Accord and climbing but it got a bit light in the front. I had a GSXR100 when I was in high school I hit 170 on but realized I had a death wish at that speed and was only holding on rather than in control. 125 in an old Camaro a buddy owned...scary ride for sure.
I was clocked down conrod straight at Bathurst during a club track day at 195.73 Mph (314.9Kmh) on a very well worked 996 SPS/R Ducati I once owned. 211.56 Mph (340.47 Kmh), 351 Clevo in an XD Falcon, clocked by Military police on the long airstrip that was being built at Weipa Queensland. Cant confirm the accuracy of the speed gun though so I include this as just a possible, they tell me it may be plus or minus 10%. Apart from that I briefly broke the sound barrier over Jervis Bay area when I was given a ride in a RNZAF TF-4B Skyhawk in return for a tandem skydive I did for the squadron CO while at the Army parachute School. But that wasn't on the ground and I don't have the specific speed so I guess it don't count? And I'm no Andy Green either!! I once had a scary moment in my old 38, driving from Melb to Sydney one night with my sisters friend. She took over to drive for an hour or so, I woke up to a screaming motor and the scenery going by real fast. I asked her how fast we were going. Her answer kinda scared me. "Only 100, it seems fast in this car though" Thats 100Mph, not 100 Kmh that the speed limit is!! Doc.
took a freinds f4i from vallejo to fresno in a hare over 2 hours, living proof that a 180 lb guy can do 158 on a 600 cc bike i had my 80,000 mile fj1200 up to 146 and i swear it was 1 rpm away from putting a piston through the block got my drz 400 up to 106 according to the gps of the guy i was passing once got a ticket for not having both wheels on the ground and doing 102 through the bay bridge toll plaza (and beat it)luckily drove a roush 360r over the pass between daly city and the cow palace in s.f. got it up to 140 going up hill, sounded like the supercharger was screaming bloody murder and took an infinity q45 up to somewhere around 145 while my wife was sleeping, dont tell her.........................
Years ago I broke 240 km/h in my buddy's mid-90s Firebird. I was driving 'cause he had his liscence pulled for speeding. Go figure. (Just did the conversion -- holy shit, that's like 150 mph! No wonder it felt fast!). Another time, late for the new girlfriend and family Thanksgiving. Battling the rev limiter in a honda civic. I met the cops, evidently in excess of 190km/h. They didn't like that much. Now that I'm legal again I drive a little slower.
once i went 115 in a '91 corolla believe it or not. I think i was pissed at my girlfriend. I was pretty surprised it made it that fast! Another time i was with a buddy in his late 80's supra on the way to Mountain High ski resort, there is a straight away for about 20 miles. We got it up to 130. Everything was vibrating and you couldnt even hear. it was a wierd feeling.
