Hack, did you see the post I did last night about the 2.8? I see you didn't respond so you must not have. There is a new 2.8 for sale on Ebay. I think it's still there. I don't know how link it to the HAMB but the item number is:2464664985. You're in luck as I think this is the 11 hp one not the winpy 9.5 hp unit they put in almost everything.
If you get it make them include the SS (Super Slug) badge to put in the grille. HAPPY BIDDING!!!!!

    Love, Frank

I know you won't appreciate this but my son in law was telling me about a neat boat anchor he saw on Ebay and I got to that listing while doing a search. HAHA!!!!I haven't told you but I've got a spare 427 L88 in the shop just in case you want to scare yourself. I sugggest you make the motor mounts UNIVERSAL so you'll be able to do a quick swap when the 2.8 proves to be disappointing (as unable to get out of the driveway).
Actually I'm pulling for you on this project, I just can't seem to convince myself it will have enough POOP to make it more than a curiousity.

Ye of little faith, My Brother!!!! [IMG]

For the weight of that 427 anvil, I could haul like NINE chicks around with me or something!

(The engine has to FIT into an early CHEVY, ya know...I ain't buildin' no MOTORHOME here! [IMG])

Keep that Winnebego motor under wraps...tornado season is comin' and ya might wanna tie to your ass so ya don't blow away or anything!!!

    (Boat anchor, indeed! [IMG])

Physics, Baby...weight, mass, friction, torque, rolling resistance, gearing, etc...

    "Quit toying, Bubba!"

    "Easy...I know what I'm doing!"

Keep the Faith, Kid!! [IMG] [IMG] [IMG]

One question does a car have to be traditional to whoop-up on you boys at the hamb drags? How about a 317 hp 2.8 in a 1600 pound car. It ought to shut a couple people up.

Physics? I was stumped by the first question on the Physics test:
    1. If the heat of the meat equals the mass of the ass will the angle of the dangle remain constant?
My answer was 2.8 and I've waited all of these years to find out why 2.8 isn't a good answer to any question. HAHA!!!!

I'll get some tomorrow for ya hack. I just can't understand why some people slam things they have no experience with. I have no experience with a flathead but have been told they are weaklings does that make them bad? I will admit most people overlook the potential in these motors. With the right parts and machine work any motor can be sick Its just a matter of preference.
PS: you will not want me in the right lane at a drag race this car likes to go left and in a hurry.

WHOA NELLY!!!!! I might have seen the light. Hack, how about you and I going over to his shop in the dead of night and stealing that 300+ hp 2.8? That might change my mind and make me cancel that appointment I set up for you at the HOSPITAL (you know what kind. " Now just relax son, close your eyes, and tell me all about these strange ideas you 've been having")

Spicolli, I hope you dont think I was slamming your race car because I wasn't.
I like lots of different types of cars, and the single minded hostillity that some people have to other types of cars then their own is a pet peeve of mine...

No not at all Metalshapes actualy your post was not up yet when I started to type mine. I was just talking the generalization people have with certian types or brands of engines, or cars for that matter. This is way off topic anyway but with enough cash or machine work you can make nearly any engine haul ass. You would not believe how little cash it takes to built one of these race engines, but then again you might just think I am a complete idiot to spend this much time and do this much machine work for a tiny v6. Anyone think a $1000 300 hp 2.8 tech build up would win the next tech week? Naw I didn't think so.

I know what kind of money you are talking about...
Me and a buddy of mine are trying to find and buy parts to build a Formula 2 Spec Lotus Twin Cam for my race car.
I got as far as a core block and a unmodified head.
There are lots of parts I still need to buy and a lot of machine work to be payed for...

BTW, I think Fab was only joking...

Metalshapes, Go to the head of the class. Yes I was joking, that's a part of the HAMB to give each other shit over our projects as well a giving out the ATTABOYS to keep our spirits up when faced with the long hours of building and aquiring the things that it takes to build anything that resembles a TRADITIONAL ride.
I apologize if there was any resentment taken because there was non intended. If you were to get to know me you'd realize it's just part of my character.
Now back to our regular scheduled program.

Spicolli...deffinately post the tech details along with the engine photos!! [IMG]

2.8s are common as nails, easy to score, fit into anything, and light as a feather...the makings of a true hot rod powerplant for sure!!!

    [IMG] [IMG] [IMG] [IMG]

Yeah, Fab32 and the others like to give me shit over this...I would feel neglected without it!

(They'd be saying the same sort of things even if I was using a COOL engine, like a Datsun 240-Z straight six or something...you just can't PLEASE some people!!!)

    Ha Ha Ha!!!

The ribbing and the wisecracks are part of what makes this stuff so much FUN!! [IMG] [IMG]

(Besides...don't believe that "I was looking for boat anchors" story Frank's tryin' to sell ya...I'm sure he was secretly attempting to hoard a few 2.8s NOW, before the public at large discovers these untapped jewels!!)

He be quite the shrewd dude...oh yeah he be!! [IMG] [IMG] [IMG] [IMG] [IMG]

Hack...to late! The secret's out. I even have a 2.8 TPI engine stashed.
I bought a wrecked 88 cavalier with a new 2.8 crate motor bought from the local chevy dealer. The ol' fart had the dealer install the new engine in his POS rusty wagon along with a transaxle feshen-up and promtly had someone run a red light. Blew the front cap offa the little car, leaving a nice, fresh 2.8 for me to score. I was gonna plop it into my old S-10 but parted it out for the T-5 tranny..[went into the Rocky 33] Now I got this thing with no vehicle to put it in....anybody want it? 5 hunnert for the whole car...needs a radiator and front sheetmetal...has a good title and even keys...
    Runs like a watch.

I think that was in the manual that came with the waterbed. Along with the warning about drowning if you pull the tag off.

The angle of the dangle is inversly proportional to the mass of the ass and the bounce of the boobs... Hell, every ON-HER student knows that one! [IMG]

Get everyone building 2.8's Hack, Start the next trend. Then I can afford that L-88 he was talking about! [IMG]
