I saw the thread about the TCI bolt in front suspension for a 53 chevy. The group seemed to favor using a weld-in piece. I've been look at the Fat Man MII unit. Does anyone have experience with them? How much would they drop my front end if I used an ls motor. I'm thinking the ls will weigh less than the original 216 and I will need drop spindles to get the front 2-3 inches. Any help will be appreciated.

You specify when you order it how much lower than stock you want. You give them all the details of your combo and they engineer it. It's not a random or fixed number. Fat Man built me one for customers Stude Commander that was to be at the original ride height and it went in perfectly.
I know it's Street Rod and OT, just trying to help a newb.

Not everyone prefers the weld in... CE makes a very nice bolt in kit.

You can always "weld-in" a bolt-in unit later. But you can't easily relocate a welded-in unit. The weld-in units look a little better, however. Gary

I whole heartedly reccommend Fatman. I run one, stage 4 superlow, bags and droped spindles. Rides great, easy install. I have also installed a coilover setup. They go in easy and the Fatman guys will answer any questions you may have.

It can be setup for just about any height. Stock, to able to lay frame, with bags. Just call 'em and talk it out.

Welding is best. Way too much flex in the stock frame rails without boxing and welding.
