Father's Day at Pomona June 21st

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by Frenchy Dehoux, May 27, 2009.

  1. What is the general rule for the Pomona Father's Day. I have my 32 almost done. I was wondering if they would let me in with the other 32 inside the main display area. I was told in the past years event if you had no paint on your car you were to park outside. My 32 body was powdered coated in a satin black with the V12 Lincoln engine. I would hate to drive all the way there for them to tell me to park outside by the swap meet area.

Please let me know the rules

Shiney paint inside. Flat paint outside. Nuthin wrong with outside, probably one of the biggest and best car shows you will ever go to.

  3. Doesn't matter if your in the "Big Show" or the "Little Show" out in the swapmeet area. It's a great show. Unless your looking for validation from the goldchainers.(or an award) And I use that term very loosely here. Come and enjoy the show.

  4. Thanks for the info I am not going there to win only for people to enjoy looking at something different.

    Thanks again

The swapmeet area is the place to be. The cars are driven and the people are cool.

The LA Roadsters put on one of the, if not the best hot rod show of the year. The finished, painted roadsters are parked inside the fairgrounds, the way the LA Roadsters want it and the way it should be. If you want to park your roadster inside than paint it and finish it. The preferred parking lot is open to all makes and styles of hot rods and customs finished or not and it is an off the hook, huge car show in itself. The LA Roadsters swapmeet is second to none, I hope this show never ends or gets sucked down the drain like all these rockabilly scenster shows have.

I have to ask, why powder coat a 32 body in satin black?

Is there usually a HAMB meet? I have been going to this every year with my father for at least 30 years and my son for 13 years.I agree the place to be is outside the fence.

I'm starting to believe that "I'll be there next year" is never going to happen. Has anyone ever produced a vedeo tour of the event? I've read every magazine feature on the show and flea market since the first one, but would like to see a map or YouTube link of everything.

i agree. the outside show and swap meet are where i spend most of my time. it is worth the trip.

  12. Drive it there,(that's 1/2 the fun)
Park outside and enjoy the whole deal
BTW - No trophys are given out to any 1.
    Enjoy the trip.
I have for the past 40 years.

I appreciate everyone input on this. I have the body powder coated because I cannot afford a $10,000 paint job for now maybe in a few years. The nice thing about powder coating is it will find any raw metal to cover in areas where primer paint maybe more difficult to paint. At least I will save on wax for a few years LOL. As soon as I have pictures of the body I will be posting them.

    Thanks again

  14. There are no trophies at the LA Roadster show, so drop the silly goldchainers commnets. They do give out a keepsake Pewter mug to ALL the participants that bring a roadster in to the inside show. Kind of a cool thing to have.

Can you or someone else please explain how powder coating any body panel is helping preserve it? That crap is now on there for life, and the sheetmetal can never be worked on again.

It's a brilliant weekend , this will be my 16th as LimeWorks I finally got a painted & upholstered roadster so another tankard to add to the collection. The LA Roadster guys treat us great as both a vendor & Roadster owner , We will be in the Swap area too with some stuff , I can't wait , a do not miss event .

If your car qualifies park inside, painted roadster, if not park in swap meet area. Everyone just goes back and forth anyway. Both areas are interesting in different ways. I prefer the swap meet area as most of the cars I enjoy and a lot of my friends are out there but I have friends inside too. It just doesn't matter. It's just a way cool show and swap meet. No drama necessary. ENJOY!

I can only go in the morning on either Saturday or Sunday. Which day is better for the swap meet? For the cars? Thanks

So-Cal Speed Shop on Friday night is the PLACE 2 B !!!!!

Glad you are getting this car wrapped up and on the road!!! Nice job on the Chassis for sure!!!

  23. aahhhhhhhh yeah its a COUPE!:D.,....This goldchainner bullshit is getting old, alotta those guys have been doing this for decades and have gotten to the point they do have nice finished streetrods and some very cool hot rods.......time to go and just have a good time fuck the "labels".hell we're taking a 32 vicky over for sale

  24. The outside is the best in my opionion! Swap meet rules, and the "parking lot" outside just plain kicks ass. I get to see all the cars I only dream about seeing in one area, out in the beautiful California sunshine. Makes this poor dumb kid super happy (and hot) :D

Yeah, no way you'll get inside. A couple of years ago, Ed Iskendarian brought out his historic hot rod, and wasn't allowed to place the car in with all the finished cars. His was finished too...just several decades before, and looks like it needs a little freshening up. But, in my opinion it should be left just as it is, history and battle scars intact.

Both shows are really good, particularly if someone's never been before. The inside for me contains alot of cars I've seen there year after year, but once in awhile you'll see a little gem that's new and just awesome! Like last year on my way out, back into the swap area, I came across the Mc Comb's restored, historic lavender '32. That thing just blew me away!

But, overall...much more fun out in the swap / show area. Come by and say 'Hi'. We'll be sellin' and hanging out.

By ALL MEANS ... GO :)

My 32 is painted so I get to park inside ... but the swap meet and the other area is just as cool. Lots of neat stuff to see and folks to talk too.
