My senior project is to apply a faux wood grain finish to the dash and interior trim of my 1949 Ford Woody of which I am building. At the moment I have to write a research paper detailing the origins of faux wood grain in general as well as its use in automobiles. As there are many accomplished and even more so knowledgeable artists a**** this community I figured on gathering much needed information for my paper. Any and all contributions are greatly appreciated!
If you type in faux wood graining under search you will find enough articles to get you started. After that try youtube for more. Hope this helps. Matt
Here's some photos of two cars I have done. I found a book called, Professional Painted Finishes by Ina, Allen and Robert Marx. It shows you have to paint all different kinds of wood. You can find it at Barnes & Noble or Amazon. It helped my learn about painting wood. rj
What a great senior project. You're keeping the flame burning, Maybe I shouldn't mention woodgrain and fire in the same sentence.
