I've seen these fake olds valve covers being advertised in magazines and was wondering how they look up close. The website doesnt have any decent sized pics.Has anybody actually bought any?
I have a customer who is interested in some, but I'd like to see some good pics first, especially with the adapter to early motors(as these are mainly designed for centre bolt motors)
    thanks

No matter how they look, they're still fake. Why lie about your engine? If you want to run a SBC, do it and use something that looks right, but don't fake it. Anyone that matters can tell the difference.

Plowboy's valve covers are actual Olds valve covers over sbc valve covers. I might be mistaken, but the "fauxmobile" covers that are advertised in the mags are actually cast aluminum and not stamped steel.

Anyone that matters can tell the difference? Who matters, other than the owner? Do you think you matter, when it comes to someone else's car?

As with anything else on a car, especially a hot rod, and most especially a "traditional Hot Rod", fake is fake (or faux if you want to be thought of as "with it"). Do I could care about faking out some outspoken ****head showing his ignorance? Not on your life.
The only individuals I care to impress have been there, done that, know what they're looking at, and will appreciate it.
I didn't like all that non functional "show" **** in the 70s and have no tolerance now. I would value the efforts of someone using an actual Oldsmobile engine or someone handcrafting special rocker covers for their Chevrolet engine far more than someone hiding their Chevrolet engine from the ignorant and uninformed by making it out to be something it isn't. Didn't GM catch a lot of flak (not to mention lawsuits) for doing the same thing to Cadillacs 20 or so years ago?

Olds valve covers on Chevy motors are for losers and posers. How weak! I don't know why anyone would even want to waste their time adapting them to fit, after all you could be spending those valuble seconds *****ing about them on some message board. Just to make sure you don't waste your time tinkering with some worthless, yet somehow conversation worthy adaptation, make sure you visit some other boards and ***** there too. After all why should just the HAMB be priveledged to such knowledge and/or opinion. Does anyone even work on their cars anymore? I am beginning to wonder.

The ones they sell in the magazine are aluminum I believe and are for the newer style center bolt covers. The fake ones would look much better on there than some of those aftermarket red bowtie ones in my opinion. But you know how the "OL SKOOL" and "TRADITIONAL" police are.

You could always double up, and put a Lincoln and a Hemi valve cover on top of those... that would be both different and ol skool.

    Australian fakery is the worst.

....look at all those so called Falcons running around over there.

    Fake

    Fake

    Fake. :D

We as American Rat Rodders have a duty to stamp out fakery no matter what side of the globe its on.

Cl***ic, they offer their Faux Olds ocvers with a Chev Script.... how cool.

Use 50's Lincoln ones and be really different :)

It don't bother me too much, but you won't catch me using corvette ones on my Olds.

that's nuts, chevy went to a lot of trouble to run the plug wires under the exhaust manifolds, so you could see the script on the valve covers.

Those are actually original olds valve covers. A guy on CT did them. I think they really look sharp, besides I don't like my wires getting so damn hot from the exhaust.
