I know it was an altered by the rules. I was going by our acceptance of g***ers as being a style of car more than what it uses as a fuel. The car certainly fits the style of car that we call a g***er. Funny but the mustang that I posted does not even resemble a "g***er" as most consider when they think of one, but it was a genuine g***er, and a winning one at that. It was easy to cl*** up but next to impossible to cl*** down. For example High n Mighty was an Altered and Altered was considered a professional cl*** at the time where gas cl*** at the time was a street legal cl***. There is a down side to doing so, you can out cl*** yourself. I may roll into the local track and enter altered in my gas coupe thinking I can bring home the trophy and then have someone roll in with an altered and hand me my hat. I have watched it happen time and time again at vintage races. Guys running 15 and 16 second p***es running in gas coupe/sedan.They are trying to run with fellas running 10s and low 11s. They for all intents and purposes should be running in stock cl***. Well now we are way off topic. Sorry fellas I just had a question and then went off on a tangent.

Plus most of the guys spend a lot of time goofing off and showboating with big burnouts and stuff now so engine temp is a factor. Changing weather conditions will make you work for your p***es on gas. I think Gas cl*** cars should be on gas. JMO. Just like the new Jr. fuel should be on nitro, not fingernail polish remover.
Its a Anglia if i aint totally blind. Had that pic for a couple of years, always thought it was a bad *** car. Dont know why but it just looks so cool and the wheels are just ****.
I actually never would have considered that gas cl*** was anything but gas for a fuel. It was actually new informaton to me. Well the thread is not about rules it is about what kind of car you like best or what car you like best, I think.
Hey PB, You know we always de-rail threads around here it's our job!! Lippy (traditional g***er) in Ks. And my favorite g***er was Mazmanians candy red chopped austin.
I am appalled that there are not more Henry J lovers here. Ya know I don't think I know of a single famouse Henry J. Mazmanians foot ball was as slick a car as he ever owned. Somewhere I have seen a video of it making a p***.
Yeah, that is kinda weird I can't think of one either. Was always a ton of them running back in the day though. Most were SBC powered can't remember a blown hemi one. I'm sure there was but... One of my favorite Henry-J's was Oh, Henry, and Henrietta. Lunch over gotta run, have a great day. Lippy (You know nitro on corn flakes is really good!) Keeps the bugs off ya too.
Actually the one I was thinking about originally ran an injected olds. Well it wasn't really a J it was an alstate. yea I have blow the day completely away. off on an adventure myself.
Man I am glad no one posted falfas 55. That is a nice lookin' five five there. What did it run? do ya know?
You know, I remember a lot of Henry J's running locally, but I don't think there were ANY National Level record holder type henry J's that I can think of. And of course the "football" was an Austin Not a Legal G***er from what I can see - way over the 10% engine setback rule.
Actually The Weekender was a record holder I think set it in '72. I didn't even think of it until you mentioned Nat'l record holders. I don't believe I have a pic of it that I can lay my hands on easily. Maybe someone has a pic. But that is the only one that I can rally think of. Hell it aint even got an engine look how high the front sets up. Thanks My brain just said hillman when I looked at it. So I figured I better ask. Now if it was an alky burner it would have big gold leafed letters saying "Golden Mu****el" on the doors. Well duh.
Could be a little newer. Here it is in 2005. Dave McCauley (he's a member here) found it and "sorta" headed it back toward original, but I think the original color was red.
Another one of our favorite cars that we see run at Thompson..... let me re-phrase that..... one of our favorite cars we see RUN HARD & FAST at Thompson. Looking forward to September. Always a great show with great cars
