opinions welcome my DiamondT is a retired Santa Fe NM FD engine and has this seal on the doors ; is it appropriate to re-paint it onto the door after painting (just the seal , no department location) or could that be seen as offending/disrespectful in any way ?
I'm a retired large FD fleet manager and I see this done on restored apparatus frequently. It is not disrespectful in my opinion and if you can find a good sign professional it will enhance the appearance of this restoration. Use your search enegine and look for Restored Fire Apparatus Collectrors. There are several groups and they do meet, compete, and actually have pumping competitions and the events are often not just entertaining but if you have one that is from a current fire apparatus manufacturer you may just get a offer to place a professional photo of your work on their global calendars. Nice acquisition in my opinion. Normbc9
I am originally from Santa Fe. My 1st cousin is a retired Fire Chief, I will ask him what his thoughts are on this subject. Cool truck by the way!
Norm thanks for the insights i forgot to mention that i have only the front clip from the original fire engine, so the truck is not a restoration project (it is kind of a hotrod RV now ) Panelrat thank you for the compliment i would highly appreciate it if you let me know what your cousins thinks about this subject . i`m the kinda (eccentric ) guy who does not care too much what the general public thinks about me, but i do know that FD`s are very proud of their seal (i hope this is the right word for it ... English is not my native language ) i love the look of it ... but i could make up something else if this is rubbing Firefighters the wrong way
