I recently noticed while under my hood that the flexible plastic wire loom that covers my tach wire that lies across my manifold started to melt where it was touching. This tells me that my manifold is getting abnormally hot. But my car isn't overheating. My thermostat and water temp is good. The engine is a 66 390 that is in my 63 Galaxie. Can anyone offer any insight as to what could be causing it to get this hot? Don't know if this matters, but it has a Holley 1850 with electric choke with dual exhaust. Other than that, it's pretty much stock.
Check for an exhaust obstruction on one bank that causes exhaust to exit through the heat riser p***age in the intake manifold.
could just be the flex wrap. I picked up some from HF but it wasnt rate for mva and it melted between my heads an alternator. Replaced it with automotive wrap and its fine now.
Igot that wire laying accross a 67 SBF it came orginal with a heavy "cloth" lume laying on intake manifold
