i have a chance to score some cast iron headers from an FE. as near as i can figure out they're for 352-406 police interceptors. are they worth anything? they look like this...
yeah, they go for decent coin, but hardly work in engine conversions... so I guess they're more restorer type ****.
they are rare, cool and usually expensive. I had them on my 64 galaxie with a 390 and 4 speed. They look *****in' on anything though. Rod
I am sure they are the same as my 361 edsel wagon... seeing the edsel had all the performance bits as stock, the manifolds should be good to buy (at the right price)....
If you decide to sell them I want dibs...I need a set for my resto Galaxie... They came off 406 amd 427 galaxies and mercs from 63 and 64
these were used on 63-64 ford performance package engines I had a set on 63-1/2 galixy 390 4 speed car and back then i saw them on several; models of ford cars.they flow very close to the same as tube headers ford used these in street cars so they could run them in compe***ion on NASCAR tracks as stock manifolds.they also did the 63-1/2 or fastback ford for same reason .they origionalytried to use a 60 starliner? roof on the 63 body and NASCAR said no so they introduced the 1/2 year slant back roof so they could run one
There are two styles short tube like the ones pictured and long tube (there usually double in price. The shorties came on 352 hipo cars in 1960, 390 hipo cars in 61 and 62, and 1962 406 cars up till about july or august then they switched to long tubes, all 63 and 64 406,427 cars had long tubes. Hipo = solid lifter high compresion engines
