FE Ford 3x2 and P.I. Intakes ,Get The "Hole" Picture

  1. Thought this might help some guys out in the future if and when looking to buy a Factory 3x2 or Police Interceptor Intake manifold for your FE Ford engines.I believe only these two model intakes have the heat passages in them with a cover plate underneath..and this may go for other intakes for other engines as well.
I had a guy come over with a couple of intakes to sell, they looked good no stripped threads, porting work,or cracks. However when I pulled the heat cover plate off this particular intake this is what was revealed.
It is quite common for these intakes to burn a hold right through them and repairing usually runs around $100 range
This is something that should be looked at when deciding how much to pay for an intake or to buy it at all.If a guy is trying to charge you $500 for a 3x2 intake and you find this...tell him $200 thats about whats its worth.A perfect restored 3x2 intake cleaned and ready to run will run you $500 easily.Unless of course you can do the repair work yourself. If you are on ebay and happen to want to bid on one,ask for pics with this plate removed, the hole is usually about the size of a quarter.I thought knowing this might help save someone headaches in the future.

I had an old old oldHARPER 3x2 for a PLYMOUTH flathead 6
I ported and fitted to insure it would be tight

one of the RAREr 6 banger parts
It came with the balance tubings
and it had some holes, so quite big,,,,

I used an aluminum spool and patience and just got a bite and reinforced,,
The carbon and heat from a CAST exhaust is the HARDEST on the aluminum when they mate together...........

This was the ONE PIECE FENTON header design
    like the FACTORY ,,
The fentons worked with the intake,,,

alot of fentons headers were ONE PIECE

I used a piece of brass rod to make sure the aluminum didn't build up inside the runners then used a grinding bit that MARBLE sculpturs use,, It's coarse but it flexs like a straw under pressure,,

anyways I fixed it, just took alot of time,,,,,

That piece with STROMBERGS and linkage went for close to 1300 on ebay close to 5 years ago,

The thing that*****s is CAST IRON when it breaks,,,
something about the CARBON weakens the GENERAL STRUCTURE, eventuallty it will break it down brittle enough to break,,,,,

I had someone help me with CAST cause I couldnt do it in my shop.....

anyways you can FIX everything marcus,
    except one little thing,,

    THIS WILL NEVER BE FIXED

you cant change the fact that your a HOMOSEXUAL,
even with the DONT ASK DONT TELL policy.....

We can tell you like***** on you,
ITS the way the computer smells after we read a POST.....

If the computer was a MACHINE gun and we were the ARMY,,,
You would have to keep the computer in the CLOSET. with your HIGH HEALS.......
