I guess I'd have to ask how much better you actually need to warrant replacing the one you have rather than doing a repair that probably will cost under 20.00

It might be worth the expense if you are chasing tenths on the drag strip but that's a high price to pay just to increase the Bubba factor.

Have had good luck with Weiand myself. Single and dual quad setup.

i'm guessing its a weiand stealth, they're not bad. you'll never feel the difference if you buy something else, just fix the thread, your wallet will thank you

I don't think you will notice a difference. Unless you had a wicked fe build, but by asking that question and seeing ur other fe posts you will be fine with what you have. Save the money for gas.

Edelbrock Streetmaster is best all around used intake, but Performer RPM is probably best available now, other than Blue Thunder

I agree with Dakota. Edelbrock Streetmaster is about the best used intake. Edelbrock RPM or Blue Thunder are the best new available and come available used at times.

But like others have said, why don't you get the stripped thread fixed?

If you have a single plane they are good for making power at higher rpm's, if your using your fe for a cruiser an Edelbrock performer will do

I've got 15 FE Intakes and unless you are planning on total performance or Just good Looks your better dollars spent would be in 4 different ways.

    1 Headers
2 A cam to fit your driving style
    3 A Carb to compliment # 1&2
4 good distributor propertly set up

Well right now I'm in a mad dash to get this thing ready for my wedding in 3 weeks to the day. I'm pretty sure I need to replace the intake gaskets so that's why I was considering it. After the wedding I will be able to work on some other issues. I'm just trying to make sure it runs for that day.

Have you priced FE intakes?? Not exactly the cheapest style to buy. You keep over thinking everything.Fix what you got save a few $'s and have fun with it for a while and quit trying to change everthing all at once. A few years from now when $'s allow and you get bored with the car the way it is then do all the stuff you want. You would have had that car on the road if you would quit daydreaming anf just get busy and STAY FOCUSED. I told you I'd drop by sometime and help fix problems, figure out your tru isues and we'll get busy on it!!

Recall reading early Edelbrock FE intakes, don't think version name was mentioned, had push rod hole alignment problems. Something to keep in mind on older ones.

The wieand is a real turd. Streemaster and Holley Street Dominator are good, reasonably priced swap meet choices, or a Blue Thunder or Perf. RPM. I had a heavily re-worked Porto-Sonic on mine, but thats more of a race oriented intake, I wouldnt suggest it for what you are doing. Some dreamer will probably pipe up here and tell you to get an F427 or a sidewinder, they are hard to find, BIG$$ and for what you need, no better than the Perf. RPM. Dont overthink it, just buy the RPM.

For the most part, this is good advice, but that wieand is a real turd. Since you have stripped a hole it it anyway, I would swap intakes.

seeing as how we have some FE folks chiming in, I've got a question

my wife's 63 galaxie has a 352 in it with a 2 barrel intake and runs fine, I picked up a stock cast iron 4 barrell intake at the last swap for $25, it appears to be in great shape, would it be worth the $500 to upgrade to an aftermarket aluminum? I am more looking to get rid of the carb more than anything

You would be suprised what the early cast iron manifolds will do.I was involved a bit with "The Great Intake Comparo" for FE's with Jay Brown. Some of the C/I stuff out performed the after market aluminum.
