I have a 390 Fe in my 58 along with FPA headers. Never was this close before but look, the left header is resting on the frame. I have no idea what motor mounts they used but can anyone suggest any shims I could use to raise the engine. There's no room on the right to tilt it that way.
I'm wondering if the wrong mounts were installed. Does anyone know wich one is for FE and which is for 292? top or bottom
Thanks 40cpe. The engine seems to sit too low and it's using the mounts you see on top. The ones on the bottom may fix my problem but I wonder why there are only 3? The factory didn't weld different mount parts for different engines I hope.
The headers are the wild card. You could try alignment shims to see if it could work. Then have some shims fabbed up.
In 61-63 T-birds it's not uncommon to install a 1/4"-thick shim between the frame bracket and mount for aftermarket headers to be installed (very tight clearances due to shock tower). The top pic looks like the mount used for full-size Ford and T-bird FEs of the period 58-64 with 2-bolt attachment to engine block.
