what to use i want a 3x2 intake for the 390 in my 59 galaxie. should i use after market like edelbrock or a factory ford intake? aftermarket seem to fetch less on ebay why is that? is there a manifold or setup i should avoid? cheers usacarnut59
The original FE intakes used the large 2300 Holleys while most of the aftermarket intakes used the smaller 94's, 97's or 2G carbies.
U looking for one?...I have one for a customer that he is not going to use..I think he wants $350 for it...not sure, will see him tomorrow and ask..Its a stock 62 Ford 406 style...we have another one on his 406 that is going into a 63 box top Galaxie. no carbs for it, but they are easy to find. A note that you may want to know...2 types of Ford 3 deuce manifolds...one for a T Bird that is FLAT...the other is for the reg cars and is slanted..reg cars need the slanted type for a proper carb install. The T birds of that era had the engine in nearly flat with no angle down in back. 972.712.6558 Mark
I just received this one yesterday from an Ebay purchase.. It's an NOS Edelbrock. I'm tickled ****less. As you can see it takes the small base Rochester carbs (I'm still looking for 3 cores to rebuild) hint hint They were throw aways on mid 60s Chevelles and big cars with 283s. probably trucks too. I recently helped my buddy buy a complete original Ford set up found right here in the HAMB cl***ifieds for his 62 Galaxy at a very nice price considering what some people are asking. He is very happy. I'm too tight to spring for an original set up. There was a slightly modified complete original and a used Edelbrock manifold on Ebay as of yesterday. I'm going to make mine resemble the Ford system for roughly half of the asking price of an original. Mine has the breather tube hole so I can run the early valve covers with no breathers. This is my first FE but my buddy is a Ford nut so I get some help.
Pay the $ for a stock Ford setup! They repop the linkage and fuel log as the air cleaner. Remember these were installed on T-Birds that little old ladys drove. Set up correctly they will be trouble free for 100K miles. I've been runnin this stock Tri-Power for over 300K. My wife drove this as a daily for 8 years, trouble free! Don't cut corners here!!....OLDBEET
