If I understand this correctly a .050 overbore on a 352 FE Ford engine will allow the use of standard size 390 pistons which I would be using along with 390 rods and crankshaft. I also understand that FE's for the most part will not handle a lot of overboring. Anyone have any experience with this? Will this work?

  2. there is a drill bit test you can do by placing certain sizes of drill bits in between the cyls in the water jackets to determine which blocks are viable cantidates to sonic test to determine how much over bore it can take. A 352 is a 4 inch bore . a 390 is 4.050. Most 352 blocks probably would be viable at .060. the only way to be certain is to sonic test. Its unlikely but its possible to find a block with the 352 casn in the front that would bore to a 428. I bumped the thread ***les 390 service block bore to 428 It has info on the drill bit test.
