That T is****s. Yes your point of affording a hot rod is right on.
Maybe they are just looking for a turn key. Instant gratification era.
That roadster is a great project. But in my view alittle high on the price.

What is the front axle on the T? There's no real good straight on pictures of it, and from the slight angle where it's shown, it looks like something I've never seen before.

Looks to me like a spring over front end with a tube axle. Not so different, but most T's have a spring behind set-up. This looks to be a pretty good deal for someone starting out, but it needs to seen and test driven. You know the way things used to be done.

If the T was close by so I could check it out good and make sure I'd fit in it I'd be interested...if I had a place to park a hot rod. Oh well.

Ditto! That sure is a nice '22 but I'd dump the wide whites and add some pie crusts and lean the radiator back like a '34 Ford.

    Hello,

As an old hot rod guy that got introduced to some of the “original” T-Buckets of Ivo and Grabowski, we have cultured a taste in a certain way. But, as the many years have gone by, everyone has their own stash of parts and a build in their minds. My brother and I actually talked about a T-Bucket, but our teenage physical size was a limiting factor. Two people would not fit comfortably in a small T-bucket. So, it was a topic build in “talks” only.

Some of our ideas were what others have put on their T-bucket roadsters over the years. Some styling points are a nice header system, whether individual pipes per cylinder swept back to the rear, and incorporating them into a muffler or baffles of some kind.

But at least this maroon T-bucket has one thing a lot of fancier/flashier T-buckets do not have… parallel exhaust pipes running back to the rear. A lot of exposed headers go back, but when the body is on a slight rake, the pipes face down and not parallel to the frame. This set up is nicely done.

The cost is reasonable for someone to start with different ideas and replacing some of the installed items. The stance could be enhanced with smaller front wheels/tires so at least it looks like it is on a slight rake. The big front tires just make it look like a rolling cart or a wagon, not a “roadster with attitude” mode.

Despite the idea that it is a handmade hood, it is completely out of place.

I could eat that, breakfast, lunch and dinner.
Can't argue the color. The stance is comfortable.
As far as no action, lets blame the virus. I'm suddenly upside down with freedom of choice.

The T bucket would be a great starter, always thought having one would be fun. However my garage is full. Darn!

I need to fight the urge to look in to transport ect after clicking on the T bucket link.

  14. What do some people expect for that kind of money ? IMO it is a fair price for what is shown. A good starter hot rod. You could drive it for a few years, then sell it for about the same money. There are not many things that you could do that with.

You bring up a good point about the headers. I have always felt they look queer angled down, I know it can't be helped when keeping the carb. level.

It can be done, but you will have to modify out of the box headers(or build a set).

  17. I've caught myself checking out the bucket numerous times, and I ve had the same thought.....affordable fun, however at this point in my life I have to have restraint:(. I have a yard full of stuff already and my family of 4 won't fit. I sold a super fun ride a couple years ago because it did not have enough seats when the family grew. I'd love to have a bucket one day though. :).

  18. Car & project cars just don't seem to be on the move right now.... My Channeled coupe project has been on the market for over a year now. 3 buyers have made a deal and backed out last minute.

    Hello,

These two are close to what we might want for our next adventure. The 56 Chevy is nearly complete as per our build rules and the 40 Sedan Delivery is as complete for someone wanting to go back in time to make a classic cruiser from scrap. But, it is not a bad scrap to start with. I am not sure why it is still for sale. The cost is minimal compared to what others have selected to start a project.

SUPER RARE !!! 56 Chev Sedan Delivery "HALF WINDOW"
    upload_2023-1-12_3-35-24.png
This one intrigues both my wife and I, due to the fact that a sedan delivery no longer has the passenger side blind spot. It is a station wagon on one side. The solid driver’s side panel does not hinder the “no view” vision out of the driver’s seat. We will definitely need A/C and new bucket seats.

So, if I tell her it is a station wagon, she may go for it. (she quit driving the 327 powered 1940 Ford Sedan Delivery due to the blind spot making it hard to see clearly on that side with the solid panel, especially at night)

The 40 sedan delivery has the good bones to start a great project. Plus, it is close to home in So Cal. But, one is almost finished. The sedan delivery? Well, lots of nights and days in the garage or a better way would be to send it to a local hot rod shop to finish. It would definitely be a road trip back to the 20 something days and nights of fun cruising adventures...

We would only be the maintenance folks, drivers, and not builders. There is a lot more involved to finish for us, but it would be just like old times as developing adults, HA!…YRMV

The choice would be both of ours, but the 1956 Chevy Station Wagon looks like a better choice.

That T looks nice, but when a car doesn't move in several months it's time to redo the ad. IMO that ad is screaming for more photos. Anybody with real interest is going to want to see more of the car, and there's no sense waiting for somebody to reach out and then send photos to them privately when you can just put them up in the ad. Don't just bump the ad up, add something to it to catch the eye. Photos man, more photos!
