If you are a machinist. You might look at Morsch machine in Chandler and Acme Machine in Gilbert Arizona. Both are in the Phoenix metro area in the southeast side. There are a ton of machine shops here and there are some VERY nice ones. Morsch is hospital clean.
Come on now, Tell the man the truth. I lived in Mesa for 7 years. It's damn hot from May the the end of October.........
Everything that the Phoenix dwellers said X2 but here, 3 hours south east of there, it's 20 degrees cooler in Sierra Vista. It gets a little cold in the winter, but I'm from Northern Virginia, it's not THAT cold or rainy and if the humididty is over 5 percent, we riot.
Whats wrong with winter in Michigan? I like to take the family out in the boat on Sundays for a spin around the lake.
Oh yea, you said you are looking for CNC work, check out Bourgets custom bike shop. He has a full CNC center in house making tons of custom bike parts. http://www.bourgets.com/
i once thought about moving to warmer weather but it comes with a price! lizzards, snakes, spiders, gators ect.. so i just stuck with snow, cold, gloomey days, rain till july, it works for me!
San Diego was about 65 today with a light wind, you can't beat it. still good in pants, flip flops and a lite flannel, CNC guys are always needed down here with the navy ships around here.
I feel your pain. Like to go west, just can't get the wife to leave her family. Could not sell My house anyway. Go west and don't look back.
There are a bunch of machine shops in San Diego that do work for the Navy. And coming from someone that spent the first 24 years of their life in San Diego, it is very nice...
>>>Is Arizona a good place to raise a kid?>>> If your kid has asthma then no according to my wife's doctor. Seems that in the past 25 years or so all the transplants (from other areas) have brought non native plants with them and the combination of those plus the extremely dry climate is hard on asthmatics nowadays. At least that's what the pulminologist said. For us, we plan to settle in Tennessee eventually, with NC or SC as alternatives. I'd pack tomorrow if I had a gig down there........ Al in CT
Ohio is Low overhead, Up north here we have lake erie and the islands. Travel a bit south Buy yourself a 3,000 square foot old farmhouse with property for cheap. Grow your own food, Board horses , Winters are reasonable here. Overhead is so low you can afford to vacation anywhere you want as often as you can. A good machinist will have no problem getting work here. This is one of the best places in the world to live. I love the four seasons , open land , spacious living.
I've thought about moving farther south as well. The weather and the taxes **** in Ontario, Canada. Toronto is crowded, overpriced and you get to enjoy some of the highest income and property taxes in the G9. We got about 10" of snow yesterday with more coming down as we speak. Of course my snow blower pull cord recoil packed it in yesterday, the garage door jambed due to ice and my phone line went down in the storm. I had to get a hammer today to knock off the ice in the wheel wells since I couldn't turn my wheels. God I love winter. I've looked at FL, NC and TX for options. I'm not looking for the perfect weather, but there has to be something better than 7 months of snow/ice, rain and 3 months of hot humid, very polluted air. Being able to keep around 50% of what I make would be a bonus as well. Nothing like giving the government almost 60% of what you earn so they can help the rest of the world that they haven't already invited over.
I lived in Reno,Nevada for a few years a nice place 90o in the summer and you can drive up to Lake Tahoe in less then a hour for summer and winter fun. Tons of car stuff and Hot August Nights too. California is pretty cool (born & raised there) however the taxes will kill ya! Jobs are kind of hard to find now a days also, my son-in-law has been looking for while!!
its pretty hot here in australia, its funny, lots of people have fake snow, it looks wrong in thehot summer heat, also some people listen to songs like winter wonderland, its wrong, i just play christmas stuff like ventures, los straightjackets and blue hawiians christmas stuff although my youngest son has been listening a bit to rhh we three kings. excuse me while i crack open another coldie, i am inside becuase this time of day feels to hot towork on the car. time to go back out but, got some epoxy primer on parts at the moment cooking away in the sun..
Not to be rude, but there are TONS of "halfbacks here in the Southeast- they came down from the cold to Florida, hated it, and moved halfway back. Look into everything when you consider a move- school systems, economy, etc. Right now, SC and GA are still some of the better places to move to- FL has wretched sales and property taxes to make up for their lack of an income tax, NC is struggling economically in ares, etc
S.W. Mo is alright, mild winters only a couple months, summer not usually over 90 or 100, but we do get those spring time wind funnels.
