Thanks Tim:) Now it's time for final assembly again. I have made a long list of stuff that needs to be checked out:eek:. But with great help from the crew, I think we will be able to fire her up at the end of the week.
Close call again, first race is the 29th this month:)

  2. Looking good - can't wait to see it back together! What did you make the intake gasket out of? Almost looks like copper???

Thanks Dale:) Yes we used copper last year and worked fine;)
As you might see, we have less intake bolts with this design, hope it will seal up. We spray Hylomar on it before install.

Did some this evening too, found out that I needed some more legroom and space around the steering, so a little adjustment and son in law TIG welding it, back on track:)

Hey Carl:) I use 4 X 64A Hilborn nozzles. At one point I thought they where a little too large, but that's what Hilborn recommended. A good friend of mine in Sweden also did a calculation, and found out that I can use that size nozzle. He goes under the name "Doc":D. A great guy that you see running around the pits helping everybody with their injection problems and issues;). If you want to, I can mail you all the other numbers (main, secondary and High-speed sizes and opening pressure).

A lot done this evening too, heads, intake, blower, Hilborn, are mounted,
Sparkplugs are gapped and put inn. Have started on the injection set-up. We will continue tomorrow or Thursday. I believe start-up is Friday or Monday:D...

As said, stat-up this evening:D! YES big grin:D. This was the second start-up, still ritch, third run was better after backing off a tad. I think we need to take off a little bit more on the idle bypass, then try the track. Then read the spark plugs.

  12. Hey Kjell - that sounds totally bad ass! Great job on it . . . love the sound and I think once you get a tune on it, should really be fun. I know you've been working your ass off on this for a long time - can't wait to see it on the track (via videos!).

    Best of Luck,

    Your Fellow Flathead Friend,

Sounds Great Kjell,,It's come along way,, Like Carl said you and Grinder sound different than how you write:D I'm also a fossil collector and had a couple buddies in the Neatherlands, Dick Mol and Olaf Stolzenbach, When I'd call either of them I was always greeted in Dutch til they relized who it was on the phone, Tim Jones

Thanks guys:) Oh so you don't understand Norwegian:)? The Viking language!:) If you have heard my English you really will start laughing:)

Yes Dale, I think we are on the right track to find the set-up.
After sleeping on it, I think we need to open the Butterfly's a little bit.
Then compensate with more leak down to bring idle down.
We closed the butterfly's completely with last years set-up, as the four nozzles also have air bleed holes.
As you might see on the video, the engine suddenly stops after low idle, thus drowning a bit, more air. I really don't want to lean out too much:)

Here are the last video for now:

Hey Kjell, that sounds damn good.
I'm in the process of gathering parts for a blower motor.
Any chance I can get a detailed look at your manifold build.
    Thanks ..

Ok guys, back from a "long" weekend in Sweden;).
And the status is; we have learned a lot, but still a long way to go:)!

This is a short summery as I can recall
first time out we ran too fat with way too low advance.
Second time with only tune-up on the ignition, we recorded the best ET of the weekend, 11.3 sec. but still feeling dead on the first 1/8 th mile.
Third time out I got a bad oil leak in my face.
We had to drop the pan and front off to replace crank oil seal.
fourth time out the ignition was still elite bit off and still rich, after leaning it on the idle bypass and compensate on the barrel valve .
Fifth time out the magneto came loose at 1000 feet, killing the engine with a "pop".
Sixth time out mech. error and blew an water overflow line in the cockpit. aborted fast as it became hot really fast on my left leg.
Seventh time everything was looking better, still a bit rich (playing on the safe side) but the steam from the passes run had done some damage on the shift light, as it lighted up right away and would not go off after shifting, then decided just to experiment on the run, as I pulled the throttle a bit off, the engine came really to life, so I could confirm that we need to back off more fuel to get this baby in the right ET's:D!

The videos does not say much.... other than way to much ALCOHOL:D!

Oh the video thing take some time, my computer works really slow at the moment, sorry:)

And forgot to tell about the sparkplug failure also, so you can understand that we had our finger full;)!

The plan is to do some more testing at our private track, to do some more sorting. Hopefully we will se some better ET's in august.
