Up here in Western Canada, there were a few small groups that were into the down and dirty rough hot rods, it seemed to be in the 2004-2012 range of time. I turned 16 in the early 2000's. What's funny to me is at the time those people were very visible in the hot rod community, always out and about, owned related shops (clothing, magazines, etc.), were almost always at cruise nights, and their "clubs" even had their own shows, with rockabilly music, greased back hair, retro clothes, and tricycle races. They were the people that were 10-15 years older than me. About 8-10 years ago or so, most of those people more or less disappeared. You don't see them or their cars out and about. Some of them still own the cars, but the people just stopped showing up to any cruise nights or participating in the car community. Maybe these are more the fad type people that are being referred to. Myself, I was never into that crowd, but I've always built what I could afford when I could, and my builds only get older and more complex. I enjoy the cars, I enjoy the builds, and I build them in a style that resonates with me for that car.

  3. It's weird I had completely forgotten that as the Hot Rod Revival was in full swing (pun intended) the Swing Revival was at its peak.

I have to wonder was it, car culture influencing pop culture, pop culture influencing car culture or simply coincidence?

  4. This is not my video and I never got to Paso but this very much reminds me of what the old Rockabilly Rumble in East Hartford CT was like!
