I have a 1940 Ford Sedan Delivery. I am looking for a left rear fender. I have read a lot on the internet about the differences but no one has spelled out the exact difference between the coupe, sedan & the sedan delivery fenders. Does anyone out there know the specific differences? Can I tell from a picture? Are the dimensions different? Any info. would be great. Thanks
I did not know, but I did find this post that says the sedan delivery fenders are different and it has side by side pics that show the difference in contour. It appears that the big difference is in the shape where it meets the body and the flange where it attaches. Have a look: http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/threads/how-rare-is-a-40-ford-sedan-delivery-rear-fender.376691/
Cool I would have guessed that they were all the same and been unpleasantly surprised when I found out that they didn't match up correctly.
On my pal Rene's 1940 woodie he found a sedan delivery rear fender and it seems that the woodie & sedan delivery share the same fenders. HRP
You see NOS sedan delivery fenders for sale all the time. Ford must have thought that every delivery ever made was gonna need four sets of fenders. The link posted above shows a great set of photos spelling out the differences from a passenger car.
