Hot Rods Fender panel brackets

Wondering if any of you have used the brackets to replace the Y yoke bracket holding the fenders in place? 1940 Ford If so, heavy enough to be worth buying or should i just build some? Sales fellow at Drakes had no idea how or what they were made of or how sturdily built.

Drake used to sell these........they called them "Front fender apron to frame"

I believe MACs auto sells same thing........
