Technical FENDER SKIRT STRIPPING

Discussion in 'Traditional Hot Rods' started by spillaneswillys, Mar 26, 2026 at 2:44 PM.

  1. I am finishing my 39 Plymouth and was wondering what you guys put on the backside of the fender skirt to kind of eliminate chipping the paint. They do fit over top of the fender and are snug. Thanks Joe

You can roll or brush on truck bed liner from Harbor Freight after hand sanding with 180-220 so it will grip!

Rubber with a groove in it to fit over the lip on the skirt, to protect the paint on the body.

  4. I have used some 2mm thick 10mm wide self-adhesive black sealing strip, just mounted on the back surface, and left the rolled edge exposed.
