they are going on a 56 buick century wagon. but i dont know how to post pics yet im pretty retarted with computers.
i have aftermarket ones that i think are for a 55 and i have a 56 luckly i diddn't pay **** for them a friend agve them to me BUT if they make the 55 they might make the 56 fox craft or fox fire i think their called
make a cardboard template to get the right size and shape....then go cut a roof off a car at the junkyard and split it down the middle...use one side on each side of the car so you have matching compound curves. On earlier cars...like 30's-40;s cars a VW bug roof works great. Make a framework out of steel and figure it out !
Will be easier to find a used pair, but if you want to see what's involved in making your own, find a copy of the April 2006 issue of Rod and Custom. Good article on how to form and brace them, however nothing in the article on attaching them to the car...........?
Get a little creative on attaching them...a couple of steel strap "tabs" to hold the top edge tight and copy a real set for the bottom hooks...pretty simple really.
The flat part and the part that will follow the opening of the wheel should be easy enough to make using templates. For the lip at the bottom (***uming you want flush-fitting skirts) you can cut a straight section of a front fender opening out and weld it to the bottom. Look at some eBay auctions of fender skirts and collect pictures of the back sides of the skirts to give you some mounting ideas. Foxcraft skirts usually have a simple clamp in the center and little tabs on each end, would be easy enough to make.
