Hi I have a outside fender skirt for my '54 ford (metal repop),but fixing are needed??? Do you have a pics????? Thankss
Can you post a pic of the damaged skirt you've got, greaser? There were several types of outside skirts. I've got at least two and might be able to help if I can see what you need...
Here's one way to do it: http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/...discussionid=18102&gmid=327154#gmessage327154 The above is courtesy of the stig here on HAMB Ford Social Group. You can also use Imageshack.com by following their prompts which is the way I do it. You could also post photos to your HAMB album and I can view them there. I have a set of outside mount skirts and no other brackets are required as I recall. Photos of your skirts is the only way I can tell what'll be required to get yours mounted. Try again on posting pictures.
Your skirts are pretty much like one of my sets. They fit on the outside of the fender. The "wires" fit inside the wheel openings and ride on the inner fender lip. They should fit pretty well right out of the box, but can be bent as required to adjust the "elevation" of the skirt so that it fits as it should (with regards to the body lines and the bottom edge of the body) while the bottom is being held close to the car. Once the "wires" are in place (I position the rear one first, then slide the skirt to the rear until the front one will go in, then slide the skirt forward again to center it properly) the skirt is rotated upward so that the top fits flush with the quarter panel. The "clamp" at the top is adjusted by the wire "lever" at the bottom and ****s the skirt against the side of the car and holds it in place. The wire lever then "clips" into place over the "flare" (as it is in the photos) to hold the clamp closed and secure the skirt in place. It's a pretty crude system, but it works...most of the time.
