Looking for pics of how you guys are running exhaust or not running exhaust with fenderwell headers. Wanna see where your dumps are, your cut outs, or how your routing ends up... Also wanna know how you keep them looking good, wrapped ( I know not traditional), chromed, painted (what works best)! So bring it on! I need some ideas!

Can't really see it in these pics but the bottoms have removeable caps and there's a tube exiting on the back side.

I saw that car when the Shaws had it! Man I tried to sell everything to get it.. Been collecting parts to build one ever since got a front flip clip and frame so far.. Fingers crossed....
I like your guys ideas, another guy here on the HAMB drilled a hole behind the collector and stubbed a pipe out the rear side.. Looked great maybe he will chime in...

What mufflers have you found that sound good? I know it's all a preference but hell we can't run around all day uncorked! It's got cherry bombs on it now and it's horrible

    2 1/4 x 3 1/2 custom by Dougs Headers.
Then welded 90's & a flange on the ends.
Exhaust is loud- 3 1/2" W/ Magnaflows, exit out side of body behind doors.

run the collector on down and back ...then on the inside run a 90 and run exhaust under car...and out of sight...put a cap on the end of header collector or do some sort of hidden deal where theres no 3 bolt flange...

It needs some help for sure I like the idea of
Coming out the backside (none seen side ) of the header.

I always like my fenderwell headers set up so I can uncap without dropping or moving the exhaust system. This sometimes requires the collectors be extended, if they aren't long enough to make an exit out the side of the collector.
On my Austin and my Falcon I cut a hole on the inside of the collector, and welded in another collector, so if I ever need to drop the exhaust, or remove the headers, I can unbolt the system and not cut anything. I make the inside outlet with as much angle as possible to reduce back pressure.
Here's a couple pics of my Falcon when I was tacking up the exhaust system:

I used a pair of Flowmaster 40's in my system, and I'm not too crazy about them under power! They sound great at idle, or low rpm's, but when the throttle opens, and the 464 starts building power, they get way too loud quickly! I'll probably pull them and go to a quieter muffler over the winter.
My headers are Patriot Tri 5 Chevy engine swap headers for a BBC. They have the original coating on them still that came with them. I haven't painted or done anything to them yet, but I'll most likely do them in satin black VHT over the winter. I've had good luck painting headers myself, and still have the same VHT silver on my Austin after 10,000 miles of all around driving. The key to keeping paint on for me is to get them clean first, and then properly cure the paint. I never go too heavy on paint coats, as that creates flaking! Once painted, I start the car up and run the engine until I see the smoke start. Shut it off and let them completely cool, then repeat the process as many times as it takes until they don't smoke at all. It usually takes 4-5 times repeating to curre them this way.

I'm running a set I speedway motors fenderwell headers with a set of baffled turndowns from summit racing Just loud enough that you can still hold a conversation in the car or drown out any unwanted cackling. Only issue is keeping the white paint on which I think will be resolved by having them heat coated this winter ImageUploadedByH.A.M.B.1380125965.932409.jpg

  19. Mine are white and they only look real sharp for about 2-3 months I drive the car all the time in good and bad weather . They have 3.5 dumps and 2.5 outlet on the back so the pass under the frame just where it kicks down. I run 48x2.5 thrush glaspacs and full tail pipes . It sounds real good with the built 440.

I never had any luck keeping my headers white back in the 60's, so I don't do white these days. Haven't heard of a high temperature ceramic coating in white that stays white either.

I'm don't think I've ever heard the term used before? Do you mean a collector with no flange for bolting an exhaust or cap to?
