Was originally a Moon car. Should be running within a year: I didn't realize Sam had repainted the H.A. digger...and I couldn't find him anywhere: This guy was the hardest driver by far..every launch was like this...saw him get up on the wrong two wheels (both left ones) towards the end of the track and still win: And of course, the Randaddy's daddymobile:
WOW...vintage race cars at a vintage drags event. Thanks for the pics. The drag bug just burrowed a little deeper under my skin.
[ QUOTE ] Great Pics...like that wheelstander.... [/ QUOTE ] Yeah, it was the funnest to watch. The f/c teams also had some people dressed in an ape suit and a tiger suit and they did some goofy 70s antics. All in all it was a lot of fun. What kind of body is attached to that fibergl*** Willys front end?
It's happened two years in a row as far as I know, the major sponsor was a place called Hot Heads. They do head porting I guess. Man, I think it would really shake up the crowd to have the Drag~n~Fly there. I was telling a photographer from Fantasy Photos about it, he wanted to see it. Next year, I'm taking my coupe down there just to embarr*** myself. Here's a website with some info: http://www.cl***icthunder.net/
I just don't wanna make the meets where there are guys with 18 wheelers and 2 promods in the trailer. Those things are way out of my league. Ya know? White Trash Racing,Inc.
Hahaha, ****, the diggers were on open trailers as were most of the cars. I'll probably be driving mine down since I can't afford a trailer and wouldn't have anyplace to put one if I could. I don't think an 18 wheeler would even make it into that place.
Here's some more from the guy who had the best seat in the house. http://www.draglist.com/stories/SOD-Jun-2003/SOD-060503.htm
Who said that the FED in the pics was a ex moon car? I have pics of that car in my friends garage! FLIP
[ QUOTE ] Who said that the FED in the pics was a ex moon car? I have pics of that car in my friends garage! FLIP [/ QUOTE ] The owner.
I don't know about the owners history but if a moon car was found behind a barn in gilroy and that guy knew nothing of it's history, than maybe the new guy found stuff out.More power to him but it sounds like a fishing story for a car he bought off E-GAY. If I knew how to shrink pics I would post em in a garage in San Jose the day before it shipped out? Who the **** really cares it is a cool car with all sorts of nice "new" stuff done to it. FLIP
[ QUOTE ] Is that an 1/8 mile track? [/ QUOTE ] Yeah, other than Rockingham, that's all we have around here. As far as the car being a Moon car or not (he said it was "one of the Moon cars"), I really don't care. I thought it was a killer old Ch***is Research frame with an Olds engine and a Potvin blower. That in itself was cool enough for me. BTW, I have his phone number if you wanna ask him.
That car was for sale on Ebay about 6 months ago. I saved some pics of it. It's a great old piece either way.
Thanks for the post, guys. We really enjoyed running Cl***ic Thunder, but the pain in our wallets got the best of us after a while. Maybe we'll return one of these days. bp
