i am considering a project, and wondered if there are still any fiberglass 32 roadster bodies built worth the $$ Everyone seems to make one, or did at one time.... which manufacturer do you guys think are best and why? thank you
You're probably not going to see too many fans around here. I can't say I could recommend you a good 'glass company. I haven't looked myself.
Anyone know anything about this company? Ronson's Street Rods? http://www.ronsonstreetrods.com/index.asp
The bodies from Australia appear to be the best. The bodies are created from a mold made of the original body. Once the body is pulled, the mold is broken. A buddy of mine, who owns a rod shop, got one which was so good, it only required scuffing to paint. Fit and finish was perfect.
Wescott in my opinion. Asked around to a lot of long time hot rodders that build car. that's what i found.
In my opinion, if you consider the difference in the cost of a quality fiberglass body and a Brookville steel body, the Brookville would make the best buy for the dollar. The end result would, in my opinion, give you the best return on your investment and would be in higher demand. Original steel is best but may not be in your budget or your skill level. Repo steel should be your second and last choice.
Yes sir!! I agree with Wescott. More money but for glass nothing is lighter and more reveal correct. On the other hand if you were to ask how made the best body period I'd say BV as stated above. By the time you make a glass tub correct with body work, you will have spent more time and money than popping for the steel version
If you are stuck on glass, Wescot is the best in my opinion, they have a steel inner cage, quality is outstanding.
The best in my honest opinion is Westcott, they are a little more expensive but you get what you pay for. My old roadster was Westcott and I was always amused at some of the experts that pointed out my car and told their hanger ons that it was steel because it had a cowl vent. I really miss that car. HRP
Downs bodies are very heavily steel reinforced and also have more wood than Henrys originally came with.(they are actually heavier than a steel bodie)
New Age Motorsports is some of the most detailed as far as originality. They do roadsters as well as coupes now. http://www.newage-motorsports.com/custom.htm
Russ Nomore out of Louisiana. Damn fine quality. I wish I could tell you who built mine so I could steer you away from them. Essentially, when it comes to 'glass cars, cheap is what you get.
