Well my hat's off to the HAMB. You guys know your stuff!!!!!! When I started this thread I received some reply's about the back half of the caddy and I replied that the guy that owned the car said it was a stock, 1951 . Well I thought some of you guys may have been smelling too many paint fumes lol Well I was over visiting the guy tonight, ((I am still working on him to sell it to me )), As we were talking he asked me if I noticed the back half of the car !!,, OOOOO ......He admitted to me that he had a local custom shop in the 60's mold the back of a 1953 pontiac to his caddy , It was leaded in no bondo !!! Great job HAMB"ERS So I AM GLAD TO BE PART OF THE BEST HELP AND FRIENDS ON THE NET !!!!!!!!
Yo, Pops29. I see you're still active on the HAMB. Any news on the major-league CUSTOMIZED '51 Caddy? Were you able to get the fella to let go of it? Just curious, man, as it's a UNIQUE original 'chine. If you don't see this, I'll PM ya; but I imagine I'm not the only one who rooted for you to score the Caddy. Regards! -- J
Is this near Turlock? Id like to be able to just look around. Is he selling whole vehicles, or parts?
On that buggy, take a look at the front hood... if there is a plastic emblem of a tail-less cat holding a sword, kinda like the Peugot logo, GRAB it, it is on of the original Manxes, built by Bruce Meyers... from the back it looks as though it could be...it should also have a tag right below the rear seat area, riveted into the fibergl***...either way, that might be something to consider grabbing, and flipping on the samba website, they are quite popular, and being fibergl***, the bodies don't rust.... the floorpans can be replaced in less than a day's time, if they are bad.
Remarkable that the stuff seems unmolested; you'd think someone would have grabbed the gold by now...that caddy even has the air cleaner!! Love the 59 ranchero... Wasn't Turlock where they filmed American grafitti??? "you can't mess with the law, Milner..." Officer Holstein gaspumpchas
