Ok, as soon as you airbag it, get a tall shifter, paint it flat black with red steelies, and plop in a Nailhead, post some pics, okay?
Get a grip, man. This is a Porsche. It comes with factory chrome steelies, so they stay. And what is wrong with gray primer/iron oxide? I was thinking more on the lines of a Stage 1 455 Buick. Actually, I'm more into an outlaw coupe, and am going to look for a later flat four built bug engine. It is a light car, so doesn't take near as much to make it move along in a spirited fashion. I'll keep the Porsche stuff, but it is way expensive to rebuild the engine/trans in it. Right now it needs a good interior cleaning and airing out after living in a field for a few years. I hate mice!
I am glad this turned out for you. I had a very similar situation with a 59 356. However after working on it for about a year I sold it in persuit of something else. I have regreted that ever since. Hang on to that one, it would be hard to replace it later.
