What I found strange, was that Pabst doesn't even have their own brewery.
It's actually made by one of the big beer companies.

I'm pretty sure Pabst is its own company, there are a ton of minor beers and malt liquors that are made by Pabst Brewing Company

This quote kinda says something doesn't it?
    [ QUOTE ]
Betty's owner Lessner said, "People are really sick of the Budweiser-type marketing with naked girls and cars. Pabst is kinda hokey and nostalgic and people like it."

Actually, the last PBR brewing facility was located not too far from where I live. That closed about two or three years ago. From what I gathered from some who used to work there, Miller Brewing has taking over as the maker of PBR. What happened to the PBR plant you may axe? Well they started using the facilities to make Smirnoff ice...

I just hope it does not drive the price up now that it is big with the foo foo crowd...seems like Lone Star got a bit more expensive when it was kinda hot at one time. PBR, Pearl, Lone Star...I like them all [IMG]

GAWD! I graduated from high school in Wisconsin. This was before the drinking age went up to 21 obviously - but - one of our homecoming floats was a PBR mug. as it went down the street broken up foam peanuts were thrown out the top to look like a beer head. GOTTA LOVE THE PBR!

Same homecoming that "ottoshop" built a cardboard tank body over a P.O.S. Buick with a giant carpet cardboard tube as a cannon....all through town they put M80's in the tube and "shot" the cannon....by the end of the parade the tube was uncoiled and sagging [IMG]

    you can still get pearl?

  15. After the parade the "Drunken Idiots" were driving around town with bits and pieces littering the town! Looked like the Demo Derby escaped the Fair grounds!!!! [IMG]

I forgot how much fun it was to grow up in a "Blue (Ribbon)" collar town!! My Dad worked at the Pabst farms while in High School and he told me the Foreman would bring out a Quarter barrell at the end of each work day and all the field hands would drink it dry!!! [IMG]

We would have "Car to Car mobile bottle Rocket wars" shooting at each other from our cars..., Drinking PBR and tossing the empties out the rust holes in our floorboards! [IMG]

Then we would drive down country roads and shoot at Signs and ...., I think I better shut up now! [IMG]

Hell yeah you can still get Pearl. Cans AND bottles. You know, "Daddy drank Pearl from a can."

And as my friend the Dude says, "Old Milwaukee is the Best, it says so right on the can." [IMG]

A good friend of mine is a supervisor/manager type at a Miller plant.

    He swears:
    1) PBR, PGDraft, Oly, Hamms, Mickey's & something else I forget are the same - same beer, diferent can. Really. I know you think it's********* - 'casue *your* beer is different from some other beer. It used to be, but it isn't any more.

    2) Pabst is what is called "contract brew"; they have no breweries, and it's all don't by contractors (just like Sam Adams is). Miller has he contract at the moment, and there's nobody else large enough to do it ('cause AB isn't interested).

    3) They are for sale, and *will* be sold in 12 months or so. Probably to Miller.

Montana is the place for BEER. After all they have "Trout Slayer" and "Moose Drool". Actually, Trout Slayer ain't half bad. Moose Drool is over-rated tho.

I read that article...and promptly went out and bought my first 6er of Pabst. Not bad. Cheap...but not bad. I always thought it more of a "joke" beer, like Gobal or Black Label...

As my old boss at the body shop always said "Red necks, white socks, and blue ribbon beer..." [IMG]

    Can't find it in Lancaster?
    Try a Food 4 Less.

Or try a Hamms or Oly; it's the same thing.

I can appreciate the blue collar aspect of PBR and all but that stuff is nasty. Beer farts, a headache and the runs all day the day after drinkin' that*****. Maybe it's just me but that's what I get from it.

I drink about anything that's put in front of me. I'm not too picky when it comes to beer. I usually grab the first thing I see at the store - so if somethin' is on sale and they have a bunch of it, that's what I grab.

It works out good for me, whenever I go to a party I can drink whatever is free AND like it while others are******ing...Beer******er: "AWE maaaaan!!! You got Old Mil, yuck!!!" ---- Me on the other side of the room: "Old mil, sweet - mind if I have one?" [IMG]

  27. I have a old PBR neon turn sign, hanging in my room.. Not really neon, just a Big color full rectangle box with a light bulb, which spins in a 360 .. Any one know how much its worth? Good condition...

ya know,me and a couple of guys in my club have been drinkin pabst for years, kinda a little nostalgia thing we started as laugh.it's gonna kill us when the trendys start drinkin it',and everyone looks at us like we bandwagoned!it'll*****.

  29. you gotta stay ahead of the curve. i can't tell you what we switched to, because i just know everybody will hop on our cool trend setting wagon....... David

  30. Never been too much of a PBR fan. In high school every friday night we would have beach night. At midnight after we were all tuned up a bunch of us would go buy two or three cases of "The Beast" (old milwalkee's best), steal a card board bale from K-Mart, and drive 40 miles south of town to the local reservior and drink until we couldn't stand.

It was great fun, the only bad thing that happened was a case of the beer*****s and red itchy*****hole.

In college we always bought warm 30 packs of keystones because warm beer was two dollars cheeper. Any of your guy's liquor stores sell warm beer at a discount?
