  3. Thanks for letting me bug ya! :D
Hope the hand is getting better.

  4. I've actually gotten a bunch of work accomplished.
Today was the final fitting and tacking in of the catwalk.

I just had to throw the trunk up there and get an overall looksie.

  7. Thanks Guys,
I'm definately learning a bunch from this projects.

Like why body work is so expensive LOL.

  8. Well, that took a while :D

I've got the beltline squared away and I just might be down to my last set of pinholes to weld up.

A buddy of mine gave me this bumper. I like how it mimics the gril bars......
Got her back up in the air to work on those rockers next.

  11. That is quite the save there! Great job. After that back window, the rockers should be a cake walk. ;)

  12. Thanks Dave, Appreciate it.

Well, it might be kinda tough with what I've got planned

Thom, it's looking great! Can I bring the caddy over for rear quarters? LOL!

You're doing awesome, can't wait to see it.

  16. Call me when your in town!

Been working hard the past 2 days on the car, but last weekend I had house stuff to take care of.

  17. And the drivers side is coved in now.

I'm going to start on the fender pod next.

  18. Well, now that's just slick as snot!

  19. Thanks Dr!

I'd like to ask for a little bit of styling help.
I'm debating how to finish the end of the outer pod/shroud that's going on the fender.
I'm going to try to weld a little 3/16" rod to dress up the end of the tube, but should I just follow the fender with the end of it, or a drastic slash cut/scallop or something else

i would put a break in a piece of sheetmetal and use the shriker stretcher to make the radius of the pipe and your done you just need a nice finished edge mimicking the pipe.

Dress it like the trim pieces that hold the taillight on a '59 caddy

  23. I think I figured it out guys, thanks.

Welded a 3/16" piece of brake line onto the end.

  24. I would have been finished with the other side sooner, but it's been to cold to work out in the garage.

I wonder why this pis is foggy, I don't rememnder it being that smoky out there?

maybe the lense was foggy from the cold.

  26. You were correct, fog.

A couple of little things to update.
I radiused out the front wheel arches so it won't destroy the fenders when I turn.

And, since It's got some cancer over the rears, I enlarged them a bit also. I bent in what good steel I had to meet the inner tub right below the access hatch.
At least now I can get the tires off w/out unhooking the shocks:p
Got one more rear to finish up, then it's on to the rear apron.

Oh yea, I got some bits on order so I can hook up the lake pipes while it's up in the air.

    Attached Files:

  27. The lake pipes sound really nice through a pair of cheap turbo mufs :p

Onward to the back, here is a 55 chevy rear bumper I got from a friend at work. I really like how it follows the body contour. I just had to fake the skirts to see how it looks.

Only problem, I'm not sure if I should rework everything from the wheels back to get more of a tail dragger look or not. These pics are about as low as it will go and the bumper is 7 1/2" off the ground.

I gota surf more pictures to help me deside.

    Thom,

Looking good! I've been thinking about the lakes for the Caddy! Where did you get them?

I vote for the look you have now- I really like it better than the 'dragger' look on this car. JMHO

  29. I was thinking of doing the same thing....dressing up the tube...but I decided to pass on it....I did see another guy cut 3 angel slots in the tube so the chrome showed thru, thought that was a neat touch.....stan

  30. I got them from night prowlers, the middle length for mine but that cadi might need the long ones LOL
Only down side is they are made from 2" pipe. might choke that 500" a bit?

I'm still on the fence a waffling we go:confused:

It's a good thing I made the pod the way I did. To hook them up I cut off the chrome bend and welded on a TIGHT radius J bend from summit. WHEUGH
