Looks good man!!! I would give it a little space between the tail pan and the bumper, Make a nice splash pan that follows the shape of the bumper and extend the 1/4's , not too much, but enough to make it flow a little smoother. It's been done before, it's nothing new but very cool!! Keep it up man!!!:)

  2. Thanks for the input Ian,

Is that what you did to yours? Looks like yours goes lower than mine will, that and the rear quarters are a bit different on my '50

My tail pan is a bit rotten, so I'll be working back there anyways.
Your sudgesting to move the bumper a little bit rearward, and an inch or so down?

  3. I think I can see the light! Looks like this one was changed. My bumper relief in the rear quarter seems higher up than this one.

Or it might be a train?

I didn't stretch the 1/4's at all but i kept the stock splash pan and molded it to the body. to get my car that low, at least for me and my knowledge, i had to make new wheel wells. look in my album you'll see what i mean. You should move the bumper back 4",5",6", or so, whatever looks best!

  5. Thanks Ian, I was searching through the main board for that part of your build :facepalmslap:

  6. After some research and a bit of soul searching, I'm not going to extend the rear quarters as much as I origonaly thought.

But can't move forward till I get the tail pan patch panel. Gota save up for that one.

So, on to something free, thanks Ian for your detailed pics they helped me a bunch.

I got the passengers side and the windshield garnish molding done.
I'm also working up rear 1/4 windows.

Thom, have you thought of maybe going with one piece door windows? Give you something to do!:D

  8. Hey Flattie, I actually did look into that, but the wing and main window actually have quite an angle between them so I found the missing wing window parts I needed to finish those up.

I've still got to make templates for the side windows, and make tracks for the rear ones so they work.

  9. Got the rest of the garnish moldings trimmed up just in time for what the brown truck dropped of :D

EMS sure does a nice job stamping, just 2 little itty bitty flow marks.
Looks like it will be a good fit.

    she's lookin better and better

  13. Thanks Billy

Sorry it's been a while for updates, the computer that takes the camera card was down.

But that wont keep me from fabin'!
The tailpan fit well, but I canged the bottom contour a bit to better match the 56 bumper I'm going to use.
I've also played around with the tail lights I picked up.
    I'm liking 'em

  14. Hey guys, I was wondering if you would share some ideas how to form the filler piece I need at the back of the rear 1/4 window.

I didn't get the original with the car, long gone.
I didn't get one with the new roof section, 4 door.
I tried to hammer one out, but It's a bit big for me to do in one piece.

I'm thinking I might try cutting the lower part loose from the body, and bending it up to meet the roof, then filling in the void with a flat piece.

    Would you share your thoughts?

    Thanks
    Thom

You are VERY courageous!! (smiling) Keep going. It's how we learn what works and what does not. So far, not a bad start. What's the worst that can happen? It's not like your family is going to have you commited (maybe not).
    (still smiling)

  18. No updates, well except for my tech week post
Working on getting the 1/4 windows working.

I fenagled my way throught those radius pieces. Meh, at the very least they are exreamly good starting points for a little mud.

I'm actually rounding a very huge corner.
I think all the major body work is done. If things go my way it will be in primer this summer.

  19. Today was a nuce warm sunny day, perfect day to clean the garage.

To do that properly, just had to get the chevy out in the sunshine.
    hehehe big pics for you!
