  3. I'm not a big fan of fake patina but real patina, especially old race car lettering gives me a major.... well let's just say I find it quite exiting!

  4. WOW! what a great story. good thing the other cars didn't pan out, huh? i guess some things are just meant to be.

    Rusty,

That story gives me goosebumps. It's like Christine - the car wanted you. And the previous owner knew the car was going home with the new owner as soon as he saw him.

Awesome!! I think I'm gonna read it again. Can't wait to see how the old girl comes out.

Question: So how is a 2 seater coupe family friendly? ;) hahahaha.

I have the same problem with my "lifetime" cars like the coupe, the cabriolet and the Bonneville car... no back seats!

Yeah everyone it still gives me goosbumps thinking about out first encounter and the look on the old owners face when he said I had the drive like he did. I just hope when i get it going and take it back to him to see it gives him another 10 years of his life knowing that the car he had so much fun is is back on the road. Anyhow. I am pumped about and cant wait to get goin. A poncho motor would be nice but I got a Hemi, a nailhead, a sbc, a Caddy 500 that I may choose from. At this point I just want to get it going, thanks everyone for the kind words and I will definalty keep yall updated

When you are 5' 5" amd your wife is 5'3" and your kids arealready small I can make just about anything other than a Model a Coupe or roadster or truck a family ride. The package tray will come out for now and will host a couple of small baby seats. It will work. I measured and have plenty of room

I'm 6'1 and 250 and I've had this dilemma for the last three years. All the cool cars seem to be two person rides. I've sold a lot of cool cars because of that and still haven't found anything else I like. Congrats on the AWESOME find though. That's the goods.

  10. That is absolutely AWESOME!

Here's a suggestion... the primer spots look like they were painted over the signage to cover it up. What if you were to rub those areas out, or wax them?
Then... for the rust spots, you could mask the good stuff, and blast the rust... paint some orange paint in those areas... and call it DONE!

The car has a very similar history to my '55... and I am doing something very similar to the paint as I described. But I pulled the body off of mine and totally went through the chassis and underside of the body... the car will be nice, with the original paint in-tact.

Is the Poncho motor in it? If not... I'm sure you could hunt one down...

I'm looking forward to seeing this project as it comes along!

    Sam.

Maybe some of the paint will buff out? I've started buffing out parts of my roof. It looks so cool. I want to do the whole body. I don't want it to look silly though with the ratty fenders.

  12. Another HAMBer "Goes ugly early." ;)

It would be hard for me to not put it back like it was - but on a healthy rake.

    Congratulations!!

Chandler, I may have to get that motor from you or maybe Samyiam. Anyhow thanks Pops for taking the latest pics. I got home too late and did not get a chance to take some more. I did however rmove the rotted carpet, seat and blew out all the dust, it is amazing how long a car can sit outside under a tarp and get dirty and the first thing you wsnt to do when you get it in your possesion is clean it and put it insidee. I have a few customer projects so it will have to be on the backburner for now but I got it so if i gets stumped I can jump on it for a a little bit. I just got to get the whole visual perspective of how I want to see it done. Thanks everyone for all the kind words, I knew this story was top notch and just could not wait ti tell everyone. Glad you enjoyed it,
