Holy compound angle cutting Batman! Nice score on a totally obscure brand that I've never run across. You did a nice job fixing it up. With the compound angle features, you can't take a monster cut on it, but for general work, it'll take care of business. As for big companies throwing out equipment, it is often easier for them to do that than to sell it off with liabilities, paperwork, etc. I'm going to look at a "freebie" large CNC milling machine after Xmas for work. It was something that we leased out to another company that did work for us under contract and we have the option to take it back. Me thinks that it is probably worth more in s**** as it was slaved to making one part for us and is not suited to anything else we're making. Bob
one heckuva score. the deckel is an exceptional machine, very adept at tool making. one of the few machines that after decades of use can still hold a tolerance. the only other ones that come to mind are the moore jig-borers and devliegs.
3K pounds? All of my mills and lathe and a few other goodies don't weigh that much. You can probably drive an 1 1/2 mill thru anything on that beast. Congratulations and that is as nice a Christmas present that you'd dare ask for. Ya think they made the Bismark on one of those?
