Finally bought my dream car,...now what?

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by cheezwiz, Feb 14, 2009.

  1. My uncle had one and he called it a FISHBACK !

  2. I'd go with the wide whites and the bomb look. The fastbacks really lend themselves to that look well. If it were a coupe, I'd go gasser.

You have a unique car that can be made any number of ways. The nice thing about this hobby is all of the various responses from everyone, the bottom line it is your car and we would all say it is cool when you are done. My thoughts...

    1) Pro Street looks great on a fastback - large tubs stuffed up to the rear window. Chop the top mild, smooth the hardware and you have a nice ride
    2) Gasser - radius the rear wheel wells, get a tire under that gasser, not that wagon wheel in the photo cropped image. Go with the whitewall cheater slicks and whitewalls on the front, let the rear tires stick out about 1". Black primer, halibrand stacks, dice on the rear view mirror. Do it clean, nice mild pinstriping, not ratrod - a head turner everywhere (hey, wanna sell it? I kinda like this setup) : )
    3) Give it the full '49 Mercury treatment - always popular and this time....not a '49 Merc!

Hey - your car, your dream - we still love ya!

    1) lmao, you can't be serious, are you really stuck in the 80's?

    3) that would be a custom right? There are plenty of customs that aren't Merc's and most of the Merc's want to be Buicks anyway... :D

WWW. I dig the car but I am not big on the color white for it. I would also get rid of the visor. Other than that, I like it.........

I used to have a 50 Fleetline (fastback) and I love them. I don't think they look right as a gasser, and I've only seen a few chopped well. I think it would look good with some simple mods... slammed, shaved (the usual), but do something different with the skirts, peak the hood, really nice paint, etc

  9. Some of you guys need to realize who cheezwhiz is..................he really does not need our input;)

T-Man, not only do they need to read his bio, they need to read some of the Hot Rod magazine articles with his cars featured! Yes, he did ask for input, just not some of the answers he got. Scott Sullivan is KING!!!!!!!!

build the driver FIRST, then take the "parts car" you needed for the driver and build a gasser out of it. and use the driver as the tow car. problem solved
